I live in Vancouver and I bought my Z a couple months ago...
The dealer told me that even though BC requires front and back plates, there was some clause in (the Motor Vehicle Act?) that deemed it acceptable not to affix a front plate "should it decrease the value of the vehicle."
Now, this is what the sketchy dealer told me ...
I looked through the Motor Vehicle Act and I couldn't find anything to this effect.
I haven't been pulled over since I bought the Z, and I've gone past (sometimes speeding) many cops with no front plate on and haven't had a problem.
Do you Z drivers in BC have front plates? Anybody know the truth? I'd like to believe the dealer, but I haven't found anything to support his claim.

Yeah I've been lucky as well. Don't currently have mine on either but I plan on it. Just haven't had the time / motivation to do it as I don't want to drill out the bumper either. Seen lots of folks who have trimmed their plates but I heard this isn't acceptable either.

Cheers!
Yes... we still need a front plate in BC and it has to be visible. Putting it on your dash doesn't qualify.
Most cases a cop won't stop & ticket you for not having one.. unless you give him another reason to stop you, ie. speeding, running red lights, etc.
PS.. I made my own front license plate holder... it attaches to the tow hook receptacle and sits just below the bumper -- no drilling required

There's no getting around not having a front plate in BC. An undercover cop purposely chased after me and pulled me over all because I didn't have a front plate. He had already pulled over another car and was writing that person a ticket, I drove by, next thing I know he was following behind me and pulled me over. I was lucky for about half a year before my luck ran out.
