Well, before I mounted up my new GTC's I got out the bathroom scale and found the Volks w/Toyos to weigh 51lbs for the front and 57lbs for the rears. I have the 19X8.5 & 19X9.5 setup using 245 & 275 tires.
I weighed the stock 17's after I got them off and found that the fronts weigh in at 52lbs while the rears weigh in at 54lbs. I weighed each wheel 4 times to make sure I got a consistant weight. I did this for both the stock and the Volks.
So given the +/- variances that these type of scales have when weighing something, I would say the weight issue between stock 17's and the Volk GTC 19's is not a big deal.
It explains why I really can't detect any performance loss in my daily real world use.
On the other hand the incredibly improved look of the car with these wheels IS a big deal and is VERY noticable. So unless you area die hard racer/track guy get the 19's because they just look like they belong there. I doubt the vast majority of us would ever detect a perfomance loss, if any even exists.

Thanks for the information on the weight issue. There was also an issue about the quality on the ride . I read some people said the ride got worse when you switch to 19". I got my GT-C's and haven't noticed any change in the ride quality as for the looks...well that's another story.

no that doesnt hold, because most of the weight is further from the hub using 19's, The further the weight is from the hub the greater the effects. Then again in normal driving applications your not going to really notice this effect.

I was just about to buy those wheels..they look sick with the JP body kit, vizage. I ended up sticking with my stock 17s and playing with my camber and a turbo kit instead...I wish those wheels were lighter...need more speed...
