white stuff on wheel??

Default white stuff on wheel??

i have my wheels off for the winter, and i was cleanin them tonite. on one of the wheels, there's this white stuff on the backside of the wheel, lip part. it's like small white specks all over...it kinda comes off if i scrape it with my nail, and i got some of it off rubbing with a terry cloth. anyone know??

i'll post some pics of it if people dont understand

its probably the mounting wax. when you get the wheel installed, they use a lubricant on the beads of the tire so when u mount it up it doesnt rip the beads. it probably just rubbed off on the wheel.

I think the previous owners of my wheels waxed them because they have this thin white film over them. My wheels are only the right bronze right after I wash them, then they go back to the abnormal.

Seeing the title i thought this was about driving in the cold weather. My wheels are still on and everytime i drive now i get these little white spots all over the lip of the wheels. It easily wipes off with sponge and water but it still sucks. I dont have any of that stuff that you are talking about though.

i was thinkin salt, but i stored my car before it started snowing, and this is only on one wheel.
