Default 285/40/17 tire on a 17x9 rim??

Title says it all. I'm looking at a pair of Yokohama AVS Sports which are 285/40/17's for my aftermarket 17x9 +35 rims. Just wondering if they'll fit on the rim/car w/o modification. The car has no suspension mods.

Thanks in advance

peace

I had that size and offset rim for my track tires. 275/40s fit fine on all 4 corners, and my car is lowered. I think a 285 would work too.

Well, that's good. So the wheels should fit fine on the Z.
My main question is: Will the 285 size tires fit on the 9 in. wheel?

It will bulge and is outside most tire manufactures recommended widths for a 285, but it can be mounted on a 9" wide wheel.

Oh yeah, this is an example:

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/asset...rce_ta_kdw.pdf

It shows recommended width for 285 as 9.5 - 11, but that is just recommendations.

Ok, so the tires will work on my rims, but will there be any complications and will it be safe? Has anyone out there done this?
