Default Cleaning Volks!

Ok. I washed my rims today because they got a lil dirty. I drove it an hour after washing them and later on I discovered there were water marks all over my lips. I guess there was water left in unreachable areas. How do you guys get ALL the water out? Oh also, do you guys wax your rims/lips? is it safe to? I guess this is a thread about cleaning and maintaining your Volk rims. I know there are alot of newbies like me

Try a leaf blower or if you have an air compressor, use that.

I've had my volks for >24hours, so I gonna use soap and water for now, but I noticed the same problem of water marks all over the FAT lips!!!!

that happen after you wash, clean and DRIVE. The water still there from your brake rotor, it drips down.

depending on what rim you have.. u should reach in and soak up all the water. i have the challenges so doing that is NP. however, if you have something like the winnings then u may be better off w/ a leaf blower or a air compressor. I always thought it was kind of odd to be using a leaf blower but i think that method may be very useful.

Is it safe to Wax the Volks? Mine are coming in on Tuesday and I don't want to "F" em up!

Would P21S be ok to use on them?

What do you guys use to get into the "nooks and craneys" of your rims? Sometimes the wheel wax gets into the creases where I can't just wipe away with a microfiber towel. A toothbrush like device would be nice, but it seems that would be too rough for the polished lips? Are there any products out there? I have Volks GT-Vs in diamond black! maybe a Q-tip?

To get into those hard to reach areas I use these:

Meguiar's Slide Lock Detail Brush

Or

Meguiar's Triple Duty Detail Brush

Both of which can be found here ... I hope that helps...

No they do not; it will be very hard to get a wheel company to sell you a inner or outer rim.
It will be much easier to repair any damages to the rim.
Aluminum is very easy to repair when you scratch, have road rash...etc
It took me about 5-10 minutes to repair some road rash I had on my old wheel and that's including the polishing process to match the clear coat.

Judging by many other members here that have volks including myself, it is not safe to use chemicals on the clear coat. Soap and water will do fine.

I have a friend that works for Mackin industries (Volk/ Rays U.S distributor)
and he recommends the same.

I just soke up as much H20 as posiable with a shamy then drive around the block and wipe one more time.

Be sure to get the shamy if possible behind the spoke on the bottom where the water sits ans settles first.

1) Dry entire car
2) Dry wheel with cloth / chamois
3) Shove an old towel in behind the spokes, resting on the part of the lip that goes into the wheel well (basically right underneath the brake rotor)
4) Leaf blower / air compressor that **** (Electric only, no gas-powered blowers). Lots of water comes out of the lug holes, in between the wheel and rotor, (in between lip and spokes if you have 2-pc) etc.
5) Dry wheel one more time

This is what I do, and I never get water spots on my volks.

You need to shove the towel underneath the brake rotor otherwise you will just push water around with the leaf blower and it will pool up in the back of the lip.

Get either Zaino Z-6 or Wheelwax. I know either of those 2 are safe for sure and work great. I have been too lazy to use Z-2 on my volks... I wonder if it would make a huge difference?
