NEED TIRES!!! Suggestions...
Im about to put my rims on my car and need a set of tires for them. I was considering the Nitto 555RII because they can be autocrossed, but do they have supported sidewalls? Also i was considering the new tire from Falken. Not sure of the name, but i think its mostly composed of numbers. BFGoodridge's KDW seems to work well but i want something with even more bite like the KD. What do you think or suggest?
I thought about the T1-Ss' but im sure a new version will be out soon. Michlen although expensive are superb tires when loudness is a concern, but do they grip as well as other might?
so i have narrowed it down i think to these companys:
Nitto
BFG
Michlen
Falken (their new tire only)
i currently have Nitto's 555 on my Stock 18 and find it grips horrible. i mean without dropping the clutch im able to spin the rear no problem once i hit about 3k. It will routinely get sideways, badly, going into second, and will get sideways always going into 3, but not as bad as second obviously. sometimes i will chirp fourth, but thats rare. I seem to beleive that the Stock Potenza put up more of a fight that these tires.
let me know what you all think. i will be ordering tires next week so i hope to have my answer by then.
thanks,
john

BTW: my rims are 9.5 30offset and 10.5 24offset. taking this into affect, could i fit a 285 in the rear and a 255 in the front without or with little rubbing? also with the 285 and 255, do i decrease the sidewall height from 35 to 30? or since im going up 10 on boht , front and rear, can i keep 35?
thanks,
john

I'd say go with Mich, but theyre expensive, so I guess Falken. And did you say 255 on the front as in 9.5? I've got 275s on my 9.5's. Might be a little too skinny, and probably won't protect the side of the rim very well. Try a 285/30 in the rear and 265/35 in the front...
