Specifics of tire/wheels sizes vs performance
#25
your going to get a higher cost when you increase the width. not nearly as many 8.5+" wheels are sold as 6.5-7.5" wheels.. remember most wheel buyers are running civics and 240s, and gsrs and such... your buying something that is lesser produced for a smaller market.
also those weigh basically what stock does... but your going to have to pay more to lose weight... from what your interests are i dont think your going to notice having a 275 tire. a 255 is wide enough for you front and rear. btw that'll cancel out some of the understeer in the car.
275s are ecessive for normal driving unless you just want the look
and the wider wheels actually add quite a bit of weight to a rim... because once you also get the wider tire (w/ steel belts and a lot of rubber) thats a lot of weight. and that is also why you see jgtcc cars running with 17"s because what they saved by using a smaller wheel they more than made up by going wider... the larger brakes they could fit arent worth the weight added by having a larger wheel + wider tire
and the wider tires are mainly for turns, your horizontal contact patch.. if you just wanna drag it a few times, w/ stock hp a 275 will be too large of a hookup for good times

hmmmm, LAZ. You say that going bigger than 8.0 gets too expensve. but the stock rims are 8.0. So it seems that it would benefit you to stick with the OEM rims or spend the extra cash and do this upgrade right, no?
In other words..what do you VALUE in this upgrade. Another rim, or some super handling? Like always, if you want both, you have to pay for both.

Hey ^TYR, why do you think he wont want 275's? Maybe, but Im a light driver who definitely likes to take some pretty mean turns, maybe not so much at the track (but every once and awhile I will)
so what would you recommend?
Also, I thought that the 255's all around was an opinion that was disputed among you and others? The counterpoint was that the suspension was dialed in for a staggered setup, so I wouldnt mislead anyone....

Roberto:
I really want the 19" rims due to asthetic reasons, but that aside, I am wondering what size tire, that will fit, should i get that can maximize handeling, while not sacraficing acceleration and not putting my speedo to far off. Now, tire life & potholes are not a concern. With that in mind what size tire would be the best for those rims? Thanks.

if you are replacing enthusiast wheels:
summary....
TXSTYLE: 19x8.5 & 19x9.5, with 245/40/19 & 275/35/19. This makes both tires overall the same diameter reducing understeer.
IF it was me: 265/35-19 on a 19x9 rim and 235/40-19 to match on 19x8 rim. I would do 30+ and 25+ offset to make sure they stick out enough. Have some 5mm spacers handy incase you desire more outage.
rationale...
rear should be 265/35-19. I say this cuz this only has a .2% error which, in my world of OCD, is close enough to be perfect. Keep 9.0 width, so that the rim is not too wide.
If you go 275/35, youll be off by 1.2%.TXSTYLE did this. Some say that up to 1.5% is good enough.
***how **** you are makes you decide which config is best. Any other option on a 19 inch will yield greater errors. Keep in mind my option has about 3/8-1/2 less width of rubber.

if your tryign to not spend to much money but increase your handling etc. buy better tires. there are many choices on the market for better rubber.
btw. better rubber over wider tire (if it comes down to that) always
if you want 19's do a 8 front and 9 rear like they said above. running 275's in back will keep you happy aethstically
really if your not running on a track and timing yourself you arnt going to notice the difference between a 245/40on 8" and a 275/35 on 9" you really wont... well if they are similiar construction that is.
the suspension is setup for a stagered setup but not really.. what i mean is with the stagered setup its mkaing the car more controllable at the limit for those without experience and skills.. whereas once you become a better driver, you'll want something more neutral handling so you can push it even further,, however your margin of error decreases significantly so... thats why you'll want to learn as much as you can w/ stock setup and then get rid of that understeer to really have some fun.
i'm not going to be running the 245 front 275 rears. i will probably be doing something closer to a 255 front and 265 rear or something of the sort
if your close to buying wheels and such i'd send a message to dwnshift and see what he says.. he's built a race 350z already so i'm sure they'll have some better info
i dont know if i'm qualified to make a change in your 3k purchase..

yup

This was my planned couse of action as well. 18" inch wheels.
dunno which to do though, 30 or 22 offset?

well, doesnt look like anyone has has any problems with rubbing running the 22+ offset...in addition, TX ran 8mm spacers, and he hasnt mentioned any rubbing. I would imagine that the 22+ looks better generally anyway, cuz itlll look like you are filling in the wheel wells.
Since Rays/Nismo is saying its OK, my motto at this point is WHY NOT ...because you never know what kinda hair is gonna go up your *** later on when you want more mods. Maybe coil overs? If so, youre gonna need the 22+

Well I think you answered my questions! LOL! I'm pretty dumb when it comes to tires. I'm pretty much set on the rims I want, and they only come in 19x8, so I guess a 235/40-19 front and 245/40 rear is as wide as I want to go? The offset is so that the wheels stick out a little more right?

Oh, be adventurous and put 245/45s in front and 255/45s on those 19x8's. They will work and look good!!
Offset:
more offset make tire go IN, no room for spring
less offset make tire go OUT, you rub on fender
As far as which offset...The perfect balance between fender and spring is UNKNOWN at this point...but since TX made the 22+ fit, then SHEEEEZY! get the damn 22+ and make that **** stick out right to the fender and make room for coilovers!!!!

NO PROBLEM!!! Im not even getting rims, but I educated myself for days and tried to find everything I could out as a challenge. Trust me, trying to sort through was hard, and my head hurts (from banging it against the computer screen)
Good luck and your payment to me is to snap some sweet *** pics so I can see how those rims look.
