Default Brand New Racing Harts...Have A Problem, need help please.

I drove all the way home this weekend from Pittsburgh to Erie just to pick up my wheels. I LOVE these wheels. They are Racing Hart CR 3-piece limited edition in a SBC finish. They look great. I took some pictures but have not uploaded them yet and I will later. Anyway, I drive to the peninsula in Erie with my roommate Noelle and I noticed what seemed to be a little vibration through the wheel at about 45-50 mph. I thought maybe it was the new tires, or they were cold or something. I drove around all weekend on them, maybe 100 miles if that and it still vibrates at 45+. When you get up to 80 it is unbearable. There was no way that I could drive these back to Pittsburgh. I am extremely pissed because I paid for wheels, tires, mounting, and BALANCING. And it wasn't cheap...$3400

I noticed a few things:

1.) They only sent me two hub centric rings. I called and was told that you should put them on the front and that there doesn't need to be one on the back of the Z because they fit perfect without them. When I had these for my eclipse they fit on the hub, really tight, had to use a rubber mallet to get them on all the way. These ones, however, fit on really lose. They fit really snug in the wheel and when I took of the wheel they were stuck in the wheel but they were loose on the hub.

2.) There was, what seemed to be, A LOT of weights on the back drivers side wheel. I would say 12 on the outer edge near the back of the wheel and anoth 10-13 on the front up near the spoke of the wheels.

3.) I was told that the suspension had a slight revision in '05. Is it possible the hubs are different than the prior years and now new hub centric rings are required?

Does anyone know what could be the problem? Above 60 it shakes the whole car. I put the stocks back on and drove back to pittsburgh(pissed and sad ) and the ride was smooth as silk. It is definately a problem with the wheels. I left them with my dad that has a friend that will spin them for free this Tuesday to see if any are out of wack. Is there anything else that could be causeing this, namely the hub centric rings?

I just received RH wheels as well, and the hubcentric rings are loose as well. I'm wondering the same thing. What did the package sticker say the application for those rings was?

The package sticker? You mean like the order invoice? Because that was all there was. And it didn't say anything car specific. Just wheels, tires, mount, balance, lugs, hub rings, etc. Just a list, no specific car. Do your wheels vibrate? Are you having any problems with them? What kind do you have?

Sounds like they had some issues balancing your wheels. I would take them to another shop and have them re-balance them. I doubt it is the hub centric ring causing the problem.

http://www.gsp9700.com, find one near you. It can find a bent rim, out of round tire, sidewall problems and, on the Straightrak models, even a slipped belt in the tire. Roadforce balancing is the way to go.

Firstly, check to make sure that the tyres have been put on the rims in the correct rotation! I have just received the RH J8 package, and one of the tyres had been fitted the wrong way round. Also, get them re-balanced before you fit them.

I checked the tires first before I even started taking the stock ones off. Toyo Proxies are tough NOT to notice the direction they should go . The were all mounted correctly, and installed correctly. They all had the correct tire pressure in them. They all were mounted flush and secure. I can't think of anything else except a balancing problem. I called who I got them from and they have one of those gsp9700 things that was posted above and they said that they high speed balanced the wheels and to check the boxes for weights that were knocked off in shipping. I looked all over after I had the vibration and there were no other weights and there was no spot on the wheels that looked like a weight USED to be there. Everything seemed fine...except for the shake of course lol.

I would loosen the bolts on the rims then, and ensure that the rim is properly centered on the lugs. Literally, you can slide this rim (I have just gotten the RH J8 package as well - see my other thread) around because the rings are too loose. If you have tightened the lugs with some weight of the car on the rim, I suppose it is feasible that they did not seat themselves correctly (yikes if so). I have not as yet mounted my rims - I did not receive the special socket I was supposed to receive with my set - and my sockets don't fit. I'm having it overnighted to me - so we'll see. GL.

But, did she "enjoy" the vibration...

Never did say if you fixed the problem

Sorry, I forgot to update this. Yes the problem is sloved. It was actually solved the day before that car show that we went to.

The problem was the balancing. There were too many weights and they were on the wrong side of the wheel. All the wheels were way off. I let the company I bought them from know about it. They brought someone in to check their machine and it was off. They had it recalibrated and everything is good on both ends. Since my dad knows the guy who did the balancing, we got it balanced for the price it cost HIM to get the weights...$12.
