I have the PS2's. Awsome tire. Dry traction amazing. Wet traction incredible. I was also surprised by the low tire noise (keep in mind these are new tires). The treadwear rating is 220. I'll see what kind of tire life I get out of them. Also, these tires have an "outside" edge. You will not be able to have your tires dismounted for rotation.
I was also looking at the Good Years, but chose these because they were lighter in weight. I love the look of the tread on the Good Years. The PS2's do not have that aggressive looking tread design.

I have the GSD3's and the first thing i noticed after swapping out the Potenza's was how silent the D3's are. They also have a softer sidewall than the RE040's, so the ride is better from a comfort perspective and the D3's don't tramline at all like the Potenza's did. The trade off with a slightly softer side wall is a marginal reduction in steering feel, althought the steering response is about the same or very marginally less.
The D3's grip very well in the dry and are amazing in the wet - I now drive as quickly in the wet as I do in the dry!

All the info I have read on the PS2's indicate that it is a great tyre. It or the GSD3 will be an improvement over the RE040.

I am running the Eagle F1's. Love them! Very sticky rain or shine.
I've tried other brands through the years but ALWAYS have come back to Goodyear. I'll never switch again.

I"ve only had the goodyears and can attest to how amazing they are. Great allaround tire for a "touring" car. IE a car not only for track use but for the daily driver that could use a little comfort.
The traction is like night and day from stock tires. Have better tread wear than the michelins (260 I think) and they look better IMO.

I loved the F1's when I had them on my car, like mentioned the sidewalls arent as stiff as the RE040's or S03's, but you can run slighlty higher pressure in them to stiffen them up some. I loved the dry straight line traction, very sticky, and they are great in the rain. Unfortunately they only lasted me 4000 miles cuz of my 4.2 degrees negative camber at the time, lol.

BTW, if you're buying these tyres just for the racetrack, I have read that others have lost long strips of rubber off the D3's (due to its longitudinal tread design) from hard trackwork. So while its a great tyre for the street or even autox, its not the best for the racetrack.
Possibly PS2 would be better for combined street / track work.

I'm planning on replacing my BS S03's with PS2's.

The PS2's are supposed to be top drawer from all the research I have done.

Only negatives I have seen .. some claim low tread life (not a concern of mine).

The aggressive -vs- muted tread pattern .. who cares - performance rules.

I read some reviews of the F1's on Tirerack, and everyone loves them. They look totally awesome and that is what I am planning to put on later this year. Thanks for the posts from the experienced posters.

I am having them installed on friday (255/275) to replace my T1S, so I will have some impressions to give on that soon.

I went against the PS2 because it was 1.5x the price.

I was under the impression that the GS-D3 is one of the lightest tires next to the Toyos ... and that the PS2 is a heavy tire. Does anyone have any weights of the PS2 for comparison?

Jim

I have the Goodyears and LOVE them! I want to try the PS2s, but note that for the OEM tire sizes, neither the GS-D3 nor the PS2s come in the exact fitments. MIchelin does not list their tire weights on their website. The F1 GS-D3 is not ideal for track work, as a friend with a heavy Camaro on (relatively speaking) narrow 255-16 GYs at the track suffered accelerated tire wear on the fronts from turning and braking on the longitudinal ribs. The rubber did not strip off, but he induced a pronounced lateral lip profile from the rib "leaning over" in the corners. Serious track tires are still R or full competition rubber. The Eagle is acceptable if you track and street the same tires.

Thanx JimRHIT. I will be interested in hearing about your back-to-back comparisons between the Toyos and the Eagles.
