Here is a picture of my old setup with 275/40/18 in the rear. Swappd it out for 275/35/18 now. Because the 40 series tires were rubbing in the rear due to my 1.2 inch drop.
I don't think it was the drop that caused the rubbing, but the offset of your rear wheels. 275/40/18 is the recommended size for the rears, on a wider wheel, to maintain the stock tire/wheel OD, 275/35/18, is an inch to small.
Here's mine with the LMGT4 Nismo, that have a 30mm offset in the rear.
What's the offset and width of your wheels. I plan to lower on Nismos so need to know if I am gonna rub.
No, the 9.5" rear Nismo wheels are specifically "designed" for a 275 width tire. As mentioned, any rubbing with a 275 tire is b/c of wheel offset since you can tuck a 315 in there with the right setup.
275/40 is the correct rear tire size for an 18" wheel, not 275/35's. A 275/35 is smaller diameter and will throw off your speedometer and effectively add ~5% more miles to your car every time you drive.
