Tire and Wheel selection sanity check
Hi all,
I've been reading everything here and doing all the homework to select the correct tire/wheel replacements. Before I buy them I want to run it by youz gyz to make sure I'm not screwing it up.
I decided to stay with the 17" wheel size because I'm more interrested in performance than looks. I think the 17s look good anyway. Also, I live in Connecticut where we're considering the pothole for the state flower.
The only question is if I should go with slightly wider than stock tires. I went to the Miata tire size calulator and found that going to 275 in the rear causes too much speed error but 255 in the rear works about perfect.
Stock:
Front: 225/50/17
Rear: 235/50/17
Slightly wider:
Front: 245/45/17
Rear: 255/45/17
I plan on using Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires.
Will I notice any handling difference?
Is this a good combo?
What is the stock offset?
How do I determine the correct offset for these?
Are $500 forged one piece wheels really better than the less expensive types? (non-track use)
Thanks
Ken

did you mean your sticking with the stock 17" or aftermarket?
Maybe this table will help... for 17" look at disk A for the offsets, for 18 and 19 look at disk B

Be sure to post picks once you get those wheels/tire combo...
I'm in the market for new wheels - and deciding what to get is driving me crazy
