Default HELP...Best way to ship wheels/tires ???

Hey Guys,
I need to have a set of wheels WITH tires mounted on them shipped across the country. I am very nervous about how to go about this. I cant find any boxes that would work well. And the thought of just putting a piece of cardboard on the face of each and letting them ride seems like im paying to have them destroyed. Any suggestions to those who know would be greatly appreciated. THANKS
Mike

That's good enough for the Tire Rack. Insure it and hope for the best.

If youve ever ACTUALLY tried to file a claim on that insurance, youll know what a joke and a headache it is. I personally dont want to "HOPE" my $3k wheels arrive safely...Thanks...but anyone else?

That is how we ship all our product.

Just make sure that the cardboard is secure and will not move, thus causing cardboard rash.

cardboard rash I just got this on my newly acquired G35 coupe wheels. Make sure they put some cloth of foam between the face and cardboard.

I just had a set of wheels and tires mounted UPS'ed to me from a private vendor. He actually packed all the wheels and tires in boxes from a computer/T.V boxes with styrofaom to keep them from shifting side to side in the boxes. He also bubble wrapped the wheels/tires and then used some serious packing tape. Again, the only boxes he used that were big enough were appliance boxes, t.v boxes, computer monitor boxes, furniture boxes etc. Do not pack more than one wheel//tire per box and make sure to have four seperate items with seperate tracking numbes, this is very important. Hope this helps, and if they offer insurance, grab it. It would be worth it!

Default Ups

Use UPS or some reputable shipping company and have them box them up for you. It's gonna cost you, but if they get damaged you can take action with no questions asked.

Take a couple turns around each wheel with the plastic-wrap they use in most warehouses to protect the surface, then cut out some big round cardboard pieces and sandwich the wheels & tires between them. Wrap with packing tape and you're good to go. That way you won't get the "chafing" somebody mentioned earlier. FedEx Ground is cheaper than UPS ground on heavy items.

Good Luck,

Bruce
