How long did you're OEM tires lasted ?
I just swapped my brakes in preparation for this weekend's lapping.
My rear tires are now 1mm away from the warning markers. I'm surprised since I don't have 7000 miles yet on the car !
I guess driving with VDC OFF didn't help them, as did one day of lapping at MidOhio. But 7000 miles ???

My old Tacoma, I got 50,000 miles out of those tires (MUD tires even) and rotated them maybe once.
Its so obvious a defect (though not on every Z), its not even funny. Just like the grinding transmission I had replaced.

I drove on the re040's way longer than I should have--20,000 miles with about 1/2" of tread completely gone all the way around-flew off when doing donuts, and tread belts showing everywhere. Im now at 48,000 miles, and I am on my 5th set of rear tires. My set after the re040's were F1 gs-d3's and they only lasted me 5000 miles cuz I slammed my car at that time and had negative 4.2 degrees camber, lol.

I had my fronts replaced under warranty at 20k for feathering and had the alignment done by Nissan, feathering probably started at around 12k but Nissan would just give me excuses and not replace them until the TSB was released.
I recently dumped the sh!tty Potenzas for Avon Techs.
At that point I had put on another 16k on the replacement Potenzas this time around they showed no feathering, so whatever Nissan did fixed my problem (hopefully)
The rear potenzas had about 36K on them, no feathering, they were at the tread replacement indicator
I have a 2003 Touring, been driving it since Nov 2002.

Mine were at 19k when I finally got them changed, but they had been making too much noise for well over 10k. It just got totally ridiculous at 16-17k. I replaced them mainly because I thought it was too dangerous with all the wear. Or maybe not, but why risk it?

not long enough! at 13k miles they were absolutely bald. though i did drive from 10k miles with no alignment after installing my springs. but it wasn't just the inside of the tires that were bald, it was pretty much the whole tire except the outsides. hopefully the s03's will last a bit longer.

get some 400 treadwear tires, like Pzero Nero for example and they will last 30K-40K miles.
Not al tires wear at the same speed unfortunately. UTQG ratings are there for a reason. Now why Nissan chose to put these tires on the Z is open to debate, but they aren't that bad a sport street tire.

Treadwear Grades
UTQG Treadwear Grades are based on actual road use in which the test tire is run in a vehicle convoy along with standardized Course Monitoring Tires. The vehicle repeatedly runs a prescribed 400-mile test loop in West Texas for a total of 7,200 miles. The vehicle can have its alignment set, air pressure checked and tires rotated every 800 miles. The test tire's and the Monitoring Tire's wear are measured during and at the conclusion of the test. The tire manufacturers then assign a Treadwear Grade based on the observed wear rates. The Course Monitoring Tire is assigned a grade and the test tire receives a grade indicating its relative treadwear. A grade of 100 would indicate that the tire tread would last as long as the test tire, 200 would indicate the tread would last twice as long, 300 would indicate three times as long, etc.
The problem with UTQG Treadwear Grades is that they are open to some interpretation on the part of the tire manufacturer because they are assigned after the tire has only experienced a little treadwear as it runs the 7,200 miles. This means that the tire manufacturers need to extrapolate their raw wear data when they are assigning Treadwear Grades, and that their grades can to some extent reflect how conservative or optimistic their marketing department is. Typically, comparing the Treadwear Grades of tire lines within a single brand is somewhat helpful, while attempting to compare the grades between different brands is not as helpful.

uh?
"Typically, comparing the Treadwear Grades of tire lines within a single brand is somewhat helpful, while attempting to compare the grades between different brands is not as helpful."
the fact that there is some error margin when compairing different brands does not mean it's irrelevant. 140 bridgestone compared to 140 pirelli even with a 10% wear difference would only be 1-2K miles difference overall. You can say whatever you want, 140 treadwear RE040 will never last anywhere close to 400 treadwear tires, whatever the brand! Might not be accurate, but it's a BIG hint.
Anyway, that wasn't the point. if you don't want 400 pirelli, get some 400 bridgestones... or whatever gets you through the day. If you plan on getting 30K miles out of 140 treadwear tires(RE040, or whatever the brand) you are being delusional.
