guess that depends on how much those volks weigh and how much his tires weigh

When I went from my 18" track wheels that weigh about 18 lbs each to my 265 and 295 michelin PS2's, the tires actually weigh 1 lb less each than the 225 and 245 bridgstone stock tires. The bridgestone tires are heavy compound. My SSR wheels weigh roughly 1-1.5 lbs more each than the track wheels.

Combined with the lighter weight lugnuts than the stock ones, my wheels/tires weigh about the same as stock and much less than the 17" or normal 18" stock wheels

So all in all, I gained no weight, but have lots more grip and has not slowed me down as you put it. It's done nothing but make me faster for my setup. But that's only cause I handpicked my wheels and tires for the sake of performance, not bling.

Maybe it could be argued that it takes more work to spin my tires because of the sheer extra width of them, but I have not noticed any difference whatsoever other than I can launch a lot harder

Regardless of weight, there is also the issue of the rotational mass of a 19" wheel vs. and 18". Now I'm no expert and I may not word this correctly, but I believe I've read that because the outer mass of the wheel is 1" further away from the center, it takes more force to spin it intially.

Yes, there's a slight, yet noticeable, difference in acceleration with my track 18's vs the 19's. My g-tech reads only a .01 difference in g-force.

But an important thing to note is that with massive contact area to the ground the traction off the line and while cornering significantly outweighs the small loss in initial acceleration.

I'll have more pics up as soon as I can.
