Default Lowering????

If I were to use a Tein Basic or Nismo S-Tune suspension setup, which both how minimal lowering. Would I have to do any other mods to the suspension to make this setup work properly and align properly????

I want to lower my car about 1 inch F/R. If there are any other ideas out there.

The S-Tune will lower the car .8", which I believe is the limit, beyond which you would need adjustable arms to correct the camber.

I'm also curious about the Tein's vs. S-tune. Any particular advantages of one over the other? I'm looking to do the same thing you are.

I had the S-Tune suspension & sways installed about 9,000 miles ago. Had it aligned at the same time. No problems since. No feathering or uneven tire wear of any kind. It works and delivers great handling for the street.

My 2cent's. A $750 height adjustable coilover system with linear springs vs a $1400 non height adjustable system with progressive springs. Both have very good owner installed reviews. Only reason I could see for the S-tunes is if your scared about retaining your warranty for suspension related parts. IMO, I rather have linear springs and I'd rather spend some of the price difference on better tires and then adjustable sway bars if any funds are left over.

Since the Basics can be set ride height wise with a drop that does not require aftermarket alignment parts and the S-tune's .8" drop won't require those part's either, our set with either choice in that respect.

Oh, here's some additional info (stiffness comparison's are against 2003 to 2004.5 oem 350Z's. 2004.5 and 2005 cars have stiffer oem rear springs)

Tein Basic (twin tube construction, non adjustable dampners )
Spring rates 504/504
Stiffer then oem by F+61% R+43%
Transfers +18% roll stiffness to front
Side Note: Excellent value at it’s price point

Nismo S-tune (twin tube construction, uses progressive springs, especially in rear)
350Z
Spring rates 448/504
Stiffer then oem by F+43% R+48%
Transfers +5% roll stiffness to rear

I agree with Gsedan35. I chose the TEIN Basic setup for the same reasons; adjustability, price and some $$$ leftover for sway bars. I also needed the adjustability since I was limited in drop amount for the front due to tire width (255/30/20).

I just put F:18x8.5 245/40/18 & R: 18x9.5 275/40/18 on my Z. It looks good but I think it needs to be lowered a bit. Right now the space between the top of the tire and the top edge of the fender well is a little over 1.5 inches. I am not a racer or tracker, just like to take it out on weekends and drive in the foothills. Can anyone suggest what I should be doing as far as lowering it. Should I just get springs and lower it .8" or will that cause rubbing or other problems. On another thread I think I remember someone talking about Hoschis (?) Springs being an appropriate solution.

Also, Ztrackman's post was interesting to me, can you give me some more details and costs. I like the idea of being able to adjust the whole set up to deal with the feathering issues. I have a 2003 model.
