I am glad that they were able to help you out. I am doing the same thing in the coming weeks. I better start hunting for parts, now.

Great to hear that you got your wheels on Auto. I had mine installed with banded TPS also. I went to my local Discount Tire store and talked to the manager and he had no problem with mounting a wheel/ tire with the TPS on a band. I guess some corvettes had this done from the factory. He just cautioned me if another tire shop works on the wheels to make sure I tell them because it is easy to break the sensor where they are mounted. Thank you for giving the info purchasing the bands and good luck with your new wheels.

No problem, glad to help.

Thanks again for the heads up on the shop.

Couldn't have done it without the support of this forum.

I positioned the tps sensor opposite the valve stem so that if work needs to be done on the tire i can warn them were not to break the bead.

damn, I did not know this is nessesary to do...My wheels and tires arrived today sans the tuner lugs (I'm so pissed off at that). I called F1 Motorsports which are around my neighbourhood to see if they have the lug nuts and they said yes, and it would be $200 to mount and balance the tires (damn that's a lot). Then I told the guy that I wanted to transfer the TPS to the new wheels (not knowing that you need to band it) he says you need to get a brace for it it's $399 per wheel plus the labor...I'm thinging WTF!!! The guy says you should have bought the wheels from us...I said you're not selling the wheels I wanted...

Now I'm reading this post and it looks more like maybe $30 in parts?
Well, I guess for this install I will have to go without my TPS and mabye do this at a later time since I need the wider tires (twin turbos and all). So I'm going to buy the lugs from them in the morning and then just go to Just tires for the mounting and balancing for an acceptable price.
pisses me off though, I love my TPS...

not all types of wheels need banding... just the ones with the long, curved air valves.

ya if its a one piece wheel you can still do it.

this is how the tps will work with a 1 piece wheel (such as our stock wheels).

As you can see the tps sensor goes straight through the lip area and out into the open air. The problem with 2 or 3 piece wheels is that the path isnt always a straight line and as the tps cant bend, the only hope is to strap it or glue it onto the barell of the wheel.

I went to F1 this morning to get the Lug Nuts and talked to the owner and then Chris who were pretty upset about what the guy on the phone told me because he was full of it.
They said they could do the TPS install, the mounting and balancing + lugs and center plates totalling $300. They kept on apologizing about the other guy on the phone. They seemed to know who I was talking about when I described how he talked (heavy accent, every sentence was completed with "bro")
As it turns out my wheels were compatible with the TPS and I ended up paying $200 including everything.
Car drives great, TPS is working and it looks fn awesome

So I can only recommend F1 Motorsports in North Hollywood for those of you close.
