Default Ideal Weight for 18'' Performance Light Weight Wheels

Guys,

What would be the ideal weight for an 18 inch wheel to enhance performance and handling. I have read that going with heavier wheels can actually degrade performance. I found some BBS that weigh 17lbs but they are not in the correct offset. The PIA SuperRozza's in 18s weigh about 23 pounds and the TSW Thruxton's weigh about 29 pounds.

What kind of wheel weight should I target to improve handling and responsiveness? Should I go for forged wheels?

Also does anyone know how much stock 17's on 350z coupe weigh, for comparison purposes.

Thank you all
Sal

18-19lbs is good. Forged is expensive. Stock 17" are around 24lbs I believe.

also remember that the wider rubber you're going to put on will weigh more than the stockers in most cases so dropping some wheel weight to at least stay even is a good thing.

I've got 23.3 for the fronts and 24.1 for the rear stockers.

NISMO LMGT4's are 18.3 Front 18.8 Rear

But they are 18x8.5 / 18x9.5

I have ENKEI NT03+M they weight about 19lbs each...

THey are 18x9.5 / 18x10.5

You arent going to find a wheel with Deep Dish and weigh under 20 lbs...

There are wheels with polished lips that are 18"s and under 16lbs... but they are Mag and not the best looking compared to the ones you named...

the lightest and cheapest wheel you will probably find is the Enkei RPF1. But I don't know if the rear offset is optimal (+15). Just save up and get what you want the first time around.

+15mm works on the rear...

Here is a pic... on NISMO S-Tune...

If you lower it so it tucks more you have to roll the fender...

If you are looking for track wheels.. best way to go would be 9" all around with the RPF1...

If quality is paramount and price is not an object for you, I highly recommend SSR wheels. They make them in a variety of width and offsets and they are very light (~18 pounds) and very strong (forged). Tirerack has them to fit the Z.

I have SSR comp-H
18X9 fronts I think are right around 18 lbs
18X10.5 Rears I think are just under 19 lbs

These are about as light as you can get for these sizes

How about the axis reverb? They come in the right sizes, reasonably priced, and supposed to be pretty light.
