Default Is Volk Misrepresenting Their Wheels?

After checking out Ray's website http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/indexe.html I thought that the forged 2 piece wheels were actually forged. Well it turns out they are not. Only the rim is forged, and the centers are cast. Did anyone think the entire wheel was forged as well? Is this product misrepresentation? It certainly misled me.

That's not misleading, you just didn't do research like you did now. Its just like HKS's Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust System. Its not made of titanium, only the tips are. Check out many websites, they fully say "Titanium Exhaust System" Check the links out

http://www.i-m-racing.com/hksduhititex.html

http://www.gruppe-s.com/350z/zex/HKSti.htm

Check this website out, the idiots even have the wrong picture of the exhaust.

Anyhow, getting back to your thought. I think it comes down to who sold you the wheels. Obviously if it was "misleading" than Volk wouldn't put this on their website, because ultimately you found this through there official website. Just like HKS clearly states that the "TI" Exhaust is only the tips. To me it was obvious not forged because of the weight difference. A true forged wheel (100%) is extremelly light say the TE37. A 19" weight's if not mistaken 17-18lbs as opposed to a 2 piece wheel like the one your talking about weights anywhere 20-24lbs in 19" (it varies from model a lot of course). Believe me 5lbs is a HUGE difference when you pick up a rim. Just like any weights, pick up a 5lb weight than pick up a 10lb weight HUGE Difference. But I can see where your coming from, it sucks though if you really thought they were 100% forged.

Actually I found out they weren't forged centers on the Mackin Industries website. The Volk website should say..... "2pc, forged rim, cast center". But it doesn't say that anywhere.

"True" forged wheels aren't always that light. The TE37 is a one piece forged wheel. The SSR GT3 is a 3 piece wheel and weighs 27lbs for a 19x10.5 and is completely forged.

the SSR GT3 is not fully forged either.

in fact, very few multipiece wheels are fully forged - the vast majority use cast centers and forged outer rings

Exactly, that's why it weight's 27lbs. Believe me, a true forged 19" wheel will not weight 27lbs. Its like saying a full Titanium exhaust system weights 25lbs. Those things weight like 8-12lbs.

I don't get why there would even be a multipiece wheel that is fully forged. If the manufacturer is capable of forging, wouldn't they force the whole wheel? The only reason I can see for multipiece is to make it cheaper.

because a large extent of it is marketing hype. The reason that most have cast centers is because they use the same exact center piece and simply alter the lips.
