Default Am I getting the right offsets?

I am researching on what rims to get and I think I am going with 18" instead of 19".

F 18x8.5 - 5x114.3 - 30 - HL

R 18x9.5 - 5x114.3 - 35 - HL

The offset for the front is 30 and the offset for the rear is 35. Is this an okay number?

A friend told me he has his rims with offset of 24 in the front and 30 in the back.

I just need to know what is the right offset to make the wheel look like it is lined up to the body.

Thanks for any help.

that wheel may be too sunken in.
if you are looking for wheels...
at least get a low 20 front and rear.

I'm more confused then ever now >_<;;

The package said it was for a 350Z. And another Z owner bought the package and it looked flushed to the body.

I just wanted to make doubly sure about the offset since I have no idea how offsets work.

So the lower the offset... the more the wheel will line up to the body and not look sunken in?

Correct...lower offsets will cause the wheels to come out more.

So if I were to get a 8.5(245) wide front what offset would I need to make the wheel not look sucken in but flushed to the body?

And if I got a 9.5(275) wide rear, what offset would I need to make the wheel not look sucken in but flushed to the body?

Shoot for the 22-24 range for both.

Correct. The offset is the distance between the mounting surface and true physical center of the wheel. A wheel with a positive offset (350Z) is pushed under the car. A positive 30 mm offset is 10 mm farther under the car than a positive 20 mm.

A wheel with a negative offset will be pushed “out” from the mounting surface. A wheel with a negative 30 mm offset with stick out 10 mm farther than a wheel with a negative 20 mm.

Tire diameter is measured in inches. Tire width is measured in mm.
Wheel width is measured in inches. Wheel offset is measured in mm.

It’s a pretty crazy system isn’t it?

You can use the NISMO wheels as a guideline:

According to what I am reading on e-bay the original wheels that are for sale on 18" wheels are 30 front 33 back. is 2mm going to make that big of a difference?

I think I am starting to understand offsets now and I believe the correct offsets for 8.5(245) front and 9.5(275) rear should be 24 offset in the front and 30 offset in the rear.

Some people are using a 15mm H&R wheel spacer for the stock 18x8.5 rear wheel so it can look flush to the body.

I am going with a 18x9.5 rear wheel so the offset is 30. It's only close to the stock 35 offset because of the extra inch the new wheels will gain needs me to compensate for it.

Sorry if I can't explain this well, like someone said, it's easier to explain this thing in person.

For facts about 350Z wheels, there are better sources than eBay.

When I put the Volks on a couple of years ago, I got 30mm offset for both ends, with 8.5" fronts and 9.5" rears and 245/275 tires. They fit, clear and look fine, especially with the ~.6" drop I got from the RSR springs.
