Default VDC and Tire Sizes

Hi everyone,

I've read a number of concerns here that VDC may or may not work with different tire sizes compared to stock. Does anyone have any confirmation of this? It seems to me that Nissan wouldn't build a VDC system that way. It would make more sense to design it so that it can accomidate different wheels and tires. That way they could use the same system on more cars or on newer models with different wheels without having to re-engineer the system. (We all know Nissan tries to lower costs when it can..) That would make it a little more complicated but I think it's also a more practical way to do it: having VDC work based off of what the car's actually doing (monitoring tire slippage, throttle position, etc) seems better than having the car use a lookup table (even if it has other inputs) to know when to expect tire slippage- and then failing if it doesnt happen. With VDC being powerful enough to brake the car and limit throttle application, and with Nissan knowing how many people put aftermarket wheels on cars (even dealers!) I guess I am doubting that they'd design such a closed system. Anyone have any experience or knowledge on this?

My VDC may be completely broken but I'm using Nitto 245x40x18 and 275x40x18 on Nismo lmgt4's which makes the front only .3 inches smaller and the rear exactly the same diameter (assuming nitto tires are measured the same way as michelin) and my vdc just doesn't even detect wheelspin even with a few full rotations in wet weather. in the dry it seems to detect slippage around every tight corner and some how detects slippage when i drive slowly up a steep driveway at a 45 degree angle. I've noticed something else a bit odd lately as well where if I do anything that breaks traction with the VDC off, my front ABS will pulse the next time I hit the brakes......

someone just recently posted something about coilovers and sway bars affecting vdc? any ideas?

Kind of. I can verify that one worn tire and one new tire (same size) on the rear axle will drive TCS crazy. The slip light will stay ON, and the car is undrivable.
