Default Question RE:Spacers, why are they "bad"??

I have heard on this site that they are BAD, I run them on another car of mine (RWD) and I have had NO problem with them, besides the obvious added wt issue, why are they considered "Bad"??

sorry if the issue has been covered already

spacers are not necessarily bad, they are used to decrease the offset (flush the wheel out to the fender). it will decrease the locking area of the thread which is bad, but if the bolts are long enough it should not matter, i forgot the number of turns for good locking of a tire nut to a bolt is though. you also have to get a hub ring to fill the back of the spacer to the wheel "hubcentricity" i think its called, basically tightly locks flushed teh inner face of teh wheels to the bolting area. spacers are basically to get a larger area for corner "fake wider wheels you could say." not necessarily bad, but if you dont understand its proper usage, it will lead to bad things.

this is my take on spacers....$0.02

I still doen't know why people say they are "BAD"?

Thumbs down

Why do you need them to start with??? They add weight plus they cost $$$. Why not get the right rims from the start.

b/c it seems like any wheel that is like a +35 or more and a 9.5" wheel or less, sits TOO FAR IN from the fender

If you look at SkiDazzles VOlks, he is running 8.5 and 9.5 at 22mm offset, and it LOOKS PERFECT!!!! most companies only make the 35 or 40 mm offset that sits too far in for my taste.
