Default Stagger set-ups

So I have stock 17 wheels- 17x7.5 front, 17x8 rear. Tire specs, respectively, are 225/50/17, 235/50/17. Will these alternate set-ups work w/the stocks w/o any problem?- 225/45/17, 235/45/17? 225/55/17, 235/55/17? N whats the difference?

Those alternates will not post problems in terms of factory chasis balance. The only thing being different is the tire aspect ratio and responsiveness. the tire side walls on the first set will be shorter, the 2nd set taller; which might result in tires turning more or less revolutions per minute. Your cockpit mph might read faster or slower than the actual speed. The tolerance for aspect ratio is w/in +-5% of the manufacture spec w/o affecting your mph cockpit reading. Shorter ratio more responsive and vice versa. I would go w/ 235/45/17 all around. reason being Z tends to understeer. this set up will minize that plowing and the tire aspect ratio falls in the short front and taller rear, a good compromise in terms of responsiveness.

Do you have VDC? If you do you need to keep a certain amount of stagger. The rear tires must be about 1/2" larger in diameter, otherwise VDC may act up.

My advice would be not to spend any month on the 17s. Keep your eyes open in the classified section and buy some used track model wheels and tires. There are some great deals in there from time to time.

Question

Was the chart that I posted helpful in selecting the correct wheel and tire sizes?
