Default Dealer unable to detect my TPMS, any ideas?

I just had some sensors put in my wheels and the dealer cannot "see" them with their sensing device. Does anyone have any info on what may be the cause? I am not sure what the dealer uses to locate and sense the sensors, but my dealer says they are not detected. Is there a battery that can go dead? Is it possible that all 4 sensors are defective? Any ideas is appreciated.

1) Yes there is a battery in each sensor but according to info I've seen posted here, I think it's supposed to last about 7 years.

2) Doesn't seems likely that all 4 batteries went dead at the same time. Doesn't seem likely that all 4 sensors died at the same time.

Did the dealer try the tool on any other Z's to make sure it's actually working properly?
I see in the service manual that there are several procedures related to the TPMS. Besides the registration procedure, there are some other interesting ones listed:
ID Registration Without Transmitter Activation Tool and Transmitter Wakeup Operation.

Maybe if the sensors were inactive for a long period, they need to have the Transmitter Wakeup Operation performed first. You might want to find out if they tried the ID registration Without Transmitter Activation Tool procedure too.

If you want to look this up yourself, download a copy of the service manual from http://carfiche.com/manuals006 and look in the WT section.

I figure the problem is probably with the techs. I am going to try another dealer(Performance Nissan) and see if they can do it.

+1. Do you have an Enthusiast or Base model? If so, and you are 2003-4, then I don't believe you can add TPMS. Otherwise, I don't know...
