Ok....I know this is bad but I had no choice. I think someone is messin with me and putting nails in teh sidewall of my rear tires.

Happened last week...first time...and I had to put on a Dunlop durenza (desperate and it was all they had...drive kinda far each day)

Yesterday, happened again...other tire..another nail in the sidewall. Went back to just tires...all they could get was a goodyear RSA.

The goodyear does not look directional while the DUnlop is. The dunlop tread looks very aggressive compared to the goodyear.

Now here is the issue, since I got the Goodyear put on...the car seems as if the rear tires are sort of fighting for traction...just slightly. They seem to follow the cracks in the freeway really badly and it makes it a lil bit of a pain to drive on teh freeway.

Is this because I have two different types of tires in the back? Any ideas? I am thinkin of upping the tire size in the front and rear in a few months...should I just wait and buy all four when im ready??

Yes--two different types of tires on either side of front or rear are bound to produce WEIRD results. For the immediate future, get matching tires and yes, for the long term, get quality wheels and tires. Wide wheels and wide rubber make a huge difference.

 

Yeh...I kinda figured that was what happened...didn't really have a choice though...I was desperate and had to get tires...I hate people who mess with peoples cars for absolutely NO REASON.

Ill try and ride it out and then get wider tires...fronts are halfway done anyways

 

Sounds like maybe you should make peace w/ the ex girlfriend, or buy the neighbor a good bottle of wine. If you're going to spend the $$ on good wheels & tires, you sure as hell don't want the sabotage to continue.

I think its happening at work because the tire seems to be going flat on my way home from work..prolly some jealous dumbazz....Im glad i bought road hazard.....nails suck

 

+1. Different brand tires on the front and rear will effect handling. Whether the effect is positive or negative is at best a guess. For the 350Z, I would not recommend different brand tires on the same axle: replace tires in pairs.

 

Is it possible to find a protected parking space @ work? I don't have a sabotage problem (married to the same woman for 20 GLORIOUS years) but always worry about others opening doors and dinging my car. SOOOO---I schmeer the lot attendant for an isolated space which he monitors. So far so good; that $20/month has kept me free of dings and weirdness.

 

Sadly, no protected spots. However, I now park next to the guard shack to at least try to alleviate the nails in the tires. We will see if that helps...about a month ago the car was egged too....go figure...guess being an ******* to chicks doesn't always pay off...hehe...jk
