Default is the 4 point balancing worth it?

the shop here that mounts my tires does the hands free mounting for 80 then they do the 4 way balancing for 100, thats 180 for mounting damn rims. i was wondering if the balancing is needed? i hate to pay 100 just for balancing.

It's worth it if they are actually good at what they do. I've heard of too many stories of people getting their rims scratched and lugs stripped because the mounter did not know what the hell they were doing. What type of balancing? computerized? on the car? First off, balancing is a MUST. It is crucial in the longetivity of your tires and to make sure that your tires are balanced correctly. You want on the car balancing at high speeds so that you don't get vibrations at high speeds. No balancing = vibrations at any speed. You think thats expensive, I'm getting charged 175 for balancing and mounting from Butler tires locally, but they do it right.

Yeah, thats typical balancing. 100 is a little expensive for a computerized balance. I would find a different place, but keep in mind that usually, the service price you pay for is what you get.
