anyone have these tires? experiences? hows the ride quality compared to stock tires? noise? traction? wet traction? tread life? etc etc. Thinking about buying these but not 100% sure yet. Thanks!

PS: Should i go for the stock size tire. or should i go for like 245/40/18 front and 245/45/18 rear? Thanks

 

Just had them installed today so I can't really give any real insight but....the tread looks cool.

 

Running 245/35/19 F and 275/35/19 R on PIAA Super Rozza's. Very happy with the performance. Noticeably more traction, less noise.

I just got 'em. I'm very impressed with them as a street tire. Comfortable ride, grippy when I need it and pricing wasn't bad either.

 

I dont trust consumer reports.....Most people on this board have raved about the tire, which is the reason I'll be getting them here in a few weeks...Supposedly they have great dry and wet traction...but I'm more concerned about putting all my power to the ground...

 

That consumer report is of the first version of the KDWs... The 2nd gen one is much improved.

 

Haven't used 'em personally, but only great reviews from people I know that race on them, as well as use 'em for daily driving. There are better tires out there, but they are one of the best bang for the buck.

 

SO3s were quieter, stickier, imo.

 

S03s are also $65 more per tire. $260 more all together. not going to spend that :P

 

+1 on RH-J5 SBC. I also ran a set of Toyo T1S into the ground an I like them very much. These are not as sticky in the wet and are a tad bit less sticky in the dry but overall the performance is good enough. Definatly worth the difference in price to step down to the BFG's

 

I can vouch for the kdw2's very sticky, good wet traction, i have 11k miles on mine ive beat the **** out of them at the track and on the street and i still got tons of tread left prob about 70% in the rear and 85% in the front

 

hows the road noise compared to stock bridgestones?

 

i like this better compare to Toyo. Not much noise.

 

They're a little bit louder than the stock bridgestones, not by much though. They have a little built of a howl at around 35-40mph. Imo, they're the best 19" + performance tire on the market for the money though.

 

wow louder than the bridgestones.. hmm... its either these or the avon tech m550 or whatever they are called. but those arent really sport car tires. there all season sporty tires....... Thanks for the opinions!

 

Would the the PS2's from Michelin be a better choice ?

I'm going to need some new tires soon and can't decide either, I need a sticky tire ! (Twin Turbo ).

I currently have the SO3's.

 

I have 800 miles on my new PS2's .. after swapping out the SO3's.

Compared to the SO3's:

PS2 advantages: much quieter and no howling, no tramlining, very sticky, holds like glue in turns, 5 LBS lighter per tire on the 19" configuration.

PS2 disadvantages: turn in and responsiveness to steering input declined - and this has made me a very unhappy camper since I rate excellent suspension and tires (& speed/torque of course) on the top of wants in sports cars.

Grip and lean ... BS over Michelin. BS goes for the extremely hard sidewalls and tire configuration that has better performance than the Michelin "high technology grip and tire composition" in turns and quick steering changes.

Bottom line .. It's a draw .. but I am kicking myself for not continuing with BS - and should have bought the RE-01Rs sold in Japan.
