Default Ruff Racing 278 18's

I'm getting my 03 redline on Tuesday and would like to buy some wheels. A few questions:

1. How are Ruff Racing 278 18's? I love the way they look. Anything wrong with them? Because i wanna buy em in a few days. $800 + s/h
2. I want to buy some 18" winter tires and put them on along with these new wheels. Are the new wheels gonna be alright, with the salt and all? Someone recently told me that salt damage is a myth and you can literally put a wheel in a bag of salt for 6 months and nothing will happen. Is this true? I'm only planning to use them for 2 winters max.
3. What size winter tires am i gonna need here? I'm not too familiar with sizing. Also, i wanna buy them used, on eBay (same as the wheels, but the wheels are new). Whe wheel size is 18x8.5 20mm. Also, am i gonna need new summer tires in the spring, or will my stock 18's fit these wheels?
