it is possible...
safe is really in the eye of beholder..
i have done 225 on a 10 inch wide wheel.
then again it is all about style and such
and keeping constant eye on tire pressure

Send me your e-mail address and I can send you a couple of pictures.

I am running 255/40 on a 19X10.5 rim. Tire pressure is a must in regards to watching it. Rims are a little exposed on the outsides.

For me....a lot has to do with playing with offsets and tire sizes to fit the wheel....and still fit in the fender...esspecially with +12 offsets. In a sense....it really doesnt matter what tire you are running on the rim..as long as the overall diameters are similar, assuming that you want to keep the speedometer the same. If you are going to track the car a lot....technically you could run 265/35 tires on 18's. This would change the speedometer reading a bit, trigger the VDC to go off (but you would have it turned off or disabled anyhow) but......it would also cause the RPM's to rise faster. On our courses...this would be useful.

Its really what you want the car to look like. The rim and tire combination will change the stance and appearance pretty drastically.

On a second thought.....I wonder if the guys that are running 275's on a lowered Z/G are really making full use of that footprint. More so if they dont have the rear camber adjustment arms. I use maybe 3/4 of the tire contact patch and my G isnt lowered that much.
