Anyone have any personal experience with the new Toyo T1-R? How would hat compare to the Michelin PS-2? I want a 285/35/19, but Michelin only has a 285/30/19. I think that's just too little a tire. The T1-R come in 285/35/19.

Just put OEM 18" T1 Rs on my Z about 4,000 miles ago. Quieter & ride improves. Handling is fine but I don't push the limits. To soon to tell on milage but Toyos seem to hold up well.

You will have to roll your rear fenders or do some cutting to make that fit properly

I thought I would only have to roll my fenders if I lowered it. I though some people were running the same size tires and just didn't lower it.???

I was assuming you were lowered. I'm not sure about stock height.

I'm into the PS-2's, The dealer said the side walls are too weak. Any truth 2 this b/c that's the tire I want, however he said to go with the S0-3's. Please chime in

I’m sorry to tell you, but there is no such tire. A tire with superior performance will have a tread wear rating of about 280. On the other hand, an all-season tire may give you great mileage (400), but performance will not be equal to that of a summer performance tire. You can have performance or mileage, but you can’t have both.

true, but I think the Michelins do a good job in most aspects. I can do without a tire that has no snow traction

There's nothing written in stone that says you must put summer tires on the 350Z. All-season tires are an alternative. For additional tread wear and comfort you'll give up superior handling. Searching for all-season tires may present two difficulties: size and speed rating.

I posted this before... and my impression of the PS2 tire is the same as some of the PS2 reviews at The Tire Rack in September 2005.

I have now have 1,000 miles on my new PS2's .. after swapping out the SO3's.

Compared to the SO3's:

PS2 advantages: much quieter and no howling, no tramlining, very sticky, 5 LBS lighter per tire on the 19" configuration. It has a "softer" feel -- the SO3's are very hard (as are all BS high performance tires). Like Z1 Performance stated on page 1 .. the SO3's are very stiff.

PS2 disadvantages: turn in and responsiveness to steering input declined a lot - and this has made me a very unhappy camper since I rate excellent suspension and tires (& speed/torque, of course) on the top of my wants in sports cars.

Grip and lean ... BS over Michelin. BS goes for the extremely hard sidewalls and tire configuration that has better performance than the Michelin "high technology grip and tire composition" in turns and quick steering changes.

PS2's hold as well as SO3's in turns -- but the feel is different. I personally prefer the SO3's.

Bottom line .. It's almost a draw... with SO3's winning slightly, IMO, because of the better turn-in responsiveness and steering input.

However, I am kicking myself for not continuing with BS - and should have bought the RE-01Rs sold in Japan. I plan to swap out the PS2's as soon as BS comes out with a RE-01R replacement next year.

I have driven on the G-Force KDW-2's for about 30 straight days on wet roads (wont freakin stop raining) and they are very impressive.
