Default advice on tire size

I'm going to get 18 in Falken Azenis RT-615's with Centerline Viking rims.....Whats the best tire size to get. I currently have 225/40......235/40. I think thats what generally comes stock on a 5AT Touring...What would be a good upgrade for the tires I'm getting, any suggestions? Thanks for the info,

Ron

What are your new wheel widths? Standard size on stock 18's is 225/45 and 245/45.

Your tires are larger in the rear so that the car will understear. If you go with the same size all the way around, then your car will understear and overstrear. If you are a good driver than go for it.

Not sure why you need 275 all the way around. Do you push the car hard around the turn? Have you added extra hp? 275/35 are pretty hard to fit to your stock wheels.

Oh - Falken RT-615 only make the aspec ratio of 35 for the 275-18" wheel.

If you are unsure, I would either go with 245's or 255's all the way around. Or if you want to keep the understear, go with 245's in front and 255's in the back.

Remember - wider tires are not as good in wet conditions!

One last thing, Falken's are great tires for the money!

Tires looked great when I had them on. I changed to PS2 and new wheels since than, so I can't take any pictures.

The reason I changed is since I live in the Southeast and it rains here all the time, I needed a summer tire that did well in the rain. The Falkens just did OK in the rain, yet had to drive like a grandma.

Falkens are great for track tires if your are not into having a extra set of wheels. All that rubber hooks up well. I think they did better than my PS2 on dry conditions.

One last thing, I don't think the VDC can handle the same size tire all the way around since it takes off power when slip is detected. It is programmed for understear, so if you go with the same size tire all the way around, just remember to turn it off!
