Is Staggering wheels just for looks?
...or is their a performance purpose behind it? I definitely think it looks good. This is the first rear wheel drive car I have owned, so I am just getting into the staggered set up for cars.
Thanks. I always wondered about it when I saw them on cars. I have seen a couple of FWD cars do this and the owners usually were given a hard time because the cars were not RWD. If it's for looks, it shouldn't matter.
I have mixed thoughts on the consept. A lot of people go same size all the way around and same size tire for tracking. Drag requires a wider rear tire hence the wider rim. Looks - yeah I guess. Others say that wider tire on the rear for the track is better. Awww shat I don't know.
Wider rear tyre affects balance of the traction between front and back, thus having an effect on oversteer / understeer.
I put equal width tyres on my car (as well as stiffer sways) and its more biased toward oversteer now, which is nice for me but depends on what you want.
