Exclamation Wheel Measurements?

This is probally a stupid question, but I must ask it. I don't understand the numerous number of meaurements I'm surrounded with when searching for wheels. I see numbers like 19x9.5, etc. but I'm not sure what they mean. My other question is what sizes(including all measurements I'll need) are acceptable for a 2004 Touring. What numbers are optimal, what is too much, etc. and what do people mean by offset?

Thanks.

uh oh...
prepare to get flamed..
=)

anyways
u can get away with a 19x9 +18
19x10 +22
easily
w/ 245 and 275...

lets brake this down
19 = rim size
9 = width
+18 = offset away from center of wheel, positive = towards outside negative =towards inside
