Default 19" wheel owner with NAV......

How does our NAV calculate distance? If I have a 19" on the Z, will it make our NAV less accurate with distance?

i think the nav runs on satellite tracking. as it does on my g35sedan.

Ya, but you know how the NAV will start to countdown the distance when it's closing to a turn. How does the NAV calculate that distance? If it's from the rotation of the wheels, then 19" will make the NAV to calculate the wrong distance.

the NAV has nothing to with the tire size and rotation. It relies totally on the satallites for measuring and distance.

also i am hoping that with going 19s you are going with lower profile tires and trying to keep the diameter same. More than navigation, i would be worried about calibration of the speedometer if u r sticking overall bigger wheel on ur 350z.

also, like others have said, it's based on satelite. woooo-hooo! thank goodness for technology....

you're wrong...

its based on satellite to a point... the sat signal only updates every 6 seconds, in between those points in time, the NAV ECU uses the VSS from the car ECU to tell it your speed and consequently, the distance you cover over time. it also uses a gyroscope to tell how much you turn, when heading in a new direction.

this is also shown in the fact that the nav keeps track of your miles as to warn you when you should get oil changes, etc...

and about 19"s, i have them and nav. i have no problems since i am running less than 1% difference in outer diameter from stock.
