Default These Wheels are sick..HRE? That a good wheel?

I am in the market for some new wheels and tires and I can't belive what I can across on my random ebay looking. I have had many cars over the years and while I find that some spend big$$$$ on suspesion and other pieces there is no better way to up the overall performance of any car than to get more rubber!! Braking, handling, ride, grip everything can be increased. I ran across the following wheels on ebay and think these are the ones for me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HRE-8...spagenameZWDVW

or the item number is : 8042400462

It is running 285 on the rear with a 265 on the fronts. That maintains the same staggering as stock. Plus in a 18' wheel so R compound rubber can be easily found in 18' sizes. 19-20 are fun but no Race rubber for em. I can only imagine the improvment this kind of Rubber on my car could do.
I was wondering though....

1. Are HRE's really that expensive.....?

2. If they really are 6-8k for a set what would be a good offer?

3. Is HRE a good wheel?

I am super excited to find out more about these wheels as they are HOT HOT HOT! Just want to know what everyone thinks before I submit a offer. The guy has included TONS of info on the wheels. Thanks

I think they are ugly wheels. They do not compliment the Z's design or shape. Some Volks or many other rims would workout better than those.

They're nice wheels, but I wouldn't pay more than $2200. JMO. HRE's have always been expensive.

the 800 series is really expensive, their best line. Its a 3 piece rim, but the rivets are on the inside which gives it a clean look.

For 3k its a good price depending on the tires.

Why not try an offer at 2500 and work up from there...

I own a set of HRE 547R's on my 2003 Z. 285's/rear & 245's/front. The rim and wheel package ran 7k total. I ordered them in November 2003. They were delivered in mid January 2004. You gotta put half down on them, they'll build them to your specs, then pay the balance once they arrive at a local shop. If you order them direct it'll cost more and you'll have to pay up front.

lolz..i have plenty. Don't need to rack up the #. Just that you sound so hype up and advertise for that ebay bid.

back to your question, go ahead with the BUY NOW option for US $2,950.00.

seem to me that you are so so so happy for this price. GO FOR IT.

ok
so hre's are more show wheels.
they have actually been banned from track because there have been instances where they would break.. and they would break often.

+1

I've read many threads that have supported this as well. If I were to spend that much on wheels, I'd definitely want it to be able to take a beating.

I wouldn't pay that money for 18's..... go 19's. HRE's are great wheels.

There are some better deals on 19" used Volk's in the classified section.

lol those wheels are "sick"? wtf, lol, must be the first set of wheels you've looked at. those wheels look very generic 5 star run of the mill wheels to me. there are much better wheels in terms of looks and quality out there.

Haha, I thought the same thing. I don't think he is fooling many on this forum, most just being nice. But hey, if that's what it takes to sell the wheels.
