Default front and rear tires ratios

it is always "OK" to use any set up you want, its just a matter of your own driving style. From my experience, if you put different size of tires in front and rear, for example, 225 front and 255 rear, you get a more direct feeling of the turn, like the turn in feels sharper more direct, especially in tight corners. However, I am running same size all around, the reason is I drift my car a lot and that gives me more front grip although it will makes the car feel more "lazy" when doing sharp turns. However, with 225 front and 255 rear, since the difference is around 30, it is more likely to have a push-understeer situation, meaning that too much power and grip in the rear and too little traction in the front and it ends up getting u an understeer situation. This is my 2 cents! Hope its helpful to you.

It depends how true to the size both tires are, if they are correct, TCS should be fine. If for some reason the backs are not quite as tall as they're numbers suggest or the front are taller than they should be for their specs, TCS may light up.

If you were going all one brand I would be less apprehensive.

I'm going to bump this up because, I am going to do the exact same thing. Rears only need to be changed and the 255/45/17 is the only size thats readily available for lower priced tires.

would it be ok to keep the oem 225/50/17 on the front with 255/45/17 bfgoodrich g-sports in the rear?
How did it workout for you? or anyone else that has done this. I'm just worried about the 255's being too wide for the rim.
