Default stock track wheel guys...question

Like it says guys....there is no good thread for people with the stock wheels and plausible tire sizes and upgrades. I'm not looking to spend a fortune, or run a track only tire. I've been fairly happy with the size and look of the tires i have now. I have noticed that going to a 225/40 and 245/40 combination opens a whole new door to tire brands and prices. I was wondering if anyone had done this and what effects it may have had.

I was thinking of going up in width, but what is an acceptable width to go to on the track wheels?

excuse my ignorance on the topic, but i came from a honda community with a civic that had 15" wheels, and a 205/50 was the standard size that everyone was running for the most part.

You need to stick with the staggered set up Nissan put on the vehicle. The 40 series on the 18" wheels aren't going to carry the suffient load capacity. The only way you can go 40 series is if you go with a larger section width...245f and 275r. But you can't do these sizes on the stock widths. Plus, if you were to avoid the load capacity warnings, you'd notice a HUGE wheel well gap by going with 40 series on 225 and 245.

I run 255/45 on my base 03 on the back and they have perfomed ok to me. Im installing Track wheels now and will probably go for 265/45, 265/40 or 275/35. Im searching to install used good tires, so whatever I can find in those sizes will do.

Falken Azenis RT-615.
You will be slightly underdriven (Indicated speed will be higher than the actual speed.)

You can also get BFGoodrich KDWs in these sizes.

I am also looking for a set of the Azenis for the stock track wheels, but found 255/45R18 to be a closer diameter to stock than the 40 profile (1.3% vs. 2.4%). Why did you go with 255/40R18? Are there rubbing issues with the 45 profile and that width??

I'm running 245/40f and 275/40r. No problem getting the tires on the wheels, although the 275s are a bit wide.

Not all sizes were availlable when I first got the tires. And I thought it more important to maintain the front to rear stagger.

Being slightly underdriven is good for acceleration too !

i decided to go with 245/40 18 all around for my race tires. That way i can rotate the tires (but not wheels obviously) and hopefully reduce understeer and improve turn in...hopefully...
