Default Is the tire defect resolve?

Hello. I used to own a 2003 350Z. I used to check out this board frequently regarding the tire defect problem that made me end up having to ligitate with Nissan corporation to settle and trade me out of my car. I loved that car, other than the tire feather defect problem.

Being 2006, I am wondering if the problem is resolved because I would like to buy another car? I heard that Nissan had the tire company make the tires thicker where they tend to wear to resolve the problem. In my opinion, that is not a true fix but a band aid, and a problem if I put aftermarket wheels and tires on my new car. I thought I would fellow owner's their opinion on the problem because Nissan corp is a lying corporation that will not give me a straight answer. Thanks.

I got my fronts replaced then aligned to the new specs last year and haven't noticed that the problem has returned. It does seem as though the number of complaints here is way down from what it used to be back in the days of the 2003 and 2004 cars. Maybe it is finally fixed.

I did the same and the probelm hasn't come back.. I'd also mention that I had an 89' 240 sx. I replaced the stock tires with some Goodyear Eagle GT ZRs some years ago just casue I got them for free. That tread patteren on those did the same exact thing as the orginal tires on the Z. I think it was a tire design problem, not the car.

I had to have my 2003 realigned with the new specs over a year ago, with that I also got the "redesigned tires" well, (knock on wood) no problems.

From what I've heard, the problem was not the tires but the toe settings going out of whack.

I got my fronts replaced too, but my concern now is when I decide to change the rims, will the problem return? I plan on changing to a coilover system, but again, since the problem was with the toe settings, I'm not to sure what to expect. I have heard that this problem "mysteriously" fixes itself with a new suspension setup, but it may be different from car to car.

Thanks for the info. For the record, I went though 3 sets of front tires in 20,000 miles. That's why I asked. Nothing Nissan did fixed anything on mine, even all of their service bulltins.
