Default Yokohama Advan

Are these tires for track use only or would I be able to use them on roads too?

As mentioned in the advertisement, they are DOT-Legal Competition tires. Like drag radials, they are designed for competition, but allow the car to race in a street legal class. With a tread wear rating of 60, I wound not recommend these tires for the street.

i use the advan neova ad07 for the street, maybe be a better compromise between track and street than the tire you chose. A048 is HARDCORE.

I want these tires but I have 17" wheels and they don't make one that fits either the front or the back.

Same thing with the comparable Goodrich g-Force T/A KD Tires.

Any ideas on what to do or comparable tires I don't know about?

This Z is my weekend 'have fun' car so I want the best performing tire I can get but I dont race it.

There is a group of 5 of us in the 'over 40 club' who like to get together on Sunday mornings back in farmland country a few miles from where we live and let loose. When we are done, the last thing we do take time turns on a course we have chosen and the winner buys brunch(after picking up the wives of course).
One fellow has the Elise and usually wins. I never have.
I need the best tires I can get if I am ever going to win.

Please, no comments about 'take it to the track'. Where we are doing this, it is very safe because it is merely curvy roads and dirt farm fields on both sides.
The worst that any of have ever done is scrunch in the fender when one of us really lost it and went way into the the cornfield. Corn on tha stalk can do some serious damage

I sometimes drive it to work if the weather is perfect (summer only) but if it starts raining on the way home from work, I do get in the right hand lane and drive 40 mph cause my last set of performance tires ended up making me go in a cricle in the rain.

So any suggestions would be most appeciated.

Changing tires can get pretty expensive when you run a048... perhaps look into other handling upgrades such as sways and coils?

Or maybe look into upgrading the wheel sizes to go with the tires... i mean you will go through the A048's pretty fast, in the long run, maybe its best to upgrade to a bigger/wider wheel size that will fit tires that are more applicable for street and track use.

The tires i have used before are Falken FK451, Yokohama AVS Sport and Advan Neova. I say get some Falken FK451 which is pretty damn good, and use the change to get some handling mods.

Those are the O.E. tires for the Lotus Exige, so some people are driving them on the road. I would be afraid of the lack of water voiding though. I'm sure they would wear quick as well. I believe Yokohama makes another R compound tire that might be better for the street the Advan AO32R I saw them on tire rack as well. Grassroots motorsports said they were about the only R compound tire you can drive on the street. They are also available in a hard compound for extended life. Good luck.
