Is the deep lip a fashion/design thing or is there a performance gain with it?

Granted a wider tire can have some advantages, but you can also get wide wheels without the lip as I understand it.

Is there any advantage to having a deep lip? Any Dis-advantages?

I for one do not care for the dished look and am looking at non-lipped wheels for the Z, but I am curious If would be missing out on a performance/handling gain by not going with the lip.

Tall wheels, wide wheels, deep dish wheels, spacers, extreme ofsets...its all about looks. If you are interested in no BS performance wheels, visit the racing forum for suggestions.
