Default please tell me if I will have trouble fitting these tires

I went to a tire place today, and asked what is the biggest tire I can fit on my stock 03 touring 18inch rim. He said you could fit 275 without any problem, I am assuming this is correct. However the fit would be 275/40/18 in the back and my front will be stock (for now, until they wear down) 225/45/18. My question(s) is will this look funny having a different size side wall? Will this even fit to begin with, I am assuming it will. Is this over kill on a stock car? I often find my *** end coming out from under me sometimes while shifting 1st to 2nd or/and 2nd to 3rd. Thank you folks.

All right, I think I had an Epiphany here, and answered my own question after a little research on the web. My original question was, would the sidewall look weird because they are 2 different sizes (45 in the front 40 in the back). I thought those were the direct size of the sidewall in mm, but I was wrong (at least I think). They are a ratio, not a direct number...for instance.

225X.45(45%) of the width of the tire=101.25mm front tires=sidewall height.

275X.40(40%) of the width of the tire=110mm back tires=sidewall height.

So to answer my own question, you wont see much of a difference. I am correct on this fellas, or did I just make no sense?

I agree with glittle41585. Going from 245's to 275's is a pretty big jump, you don't want to stretch such wide tires on stock rims.
