Default Do tire pressure monitors have to be reprogrammed?

When changing from stock wheels to after market, assuming the monitors fit the new wheels correctly, and are in the exact same wheel placement, do the monitors need to be reprogrammed by Nissan?

My tire guages just have dashes next where the reading should be. Is this because I bought my car w/ aftermarket rims and am not sure it is reading the pressure? -19" Speedy's

I just changed mine, and did not need reprogramming

Thanks. That's what I thought, but even the Nissan dealer didn't know the answer!

That means that the tire pressure sensors are not installed on your aftermarket wheels. The original owner probably sold them with the OEM wheels.

Sometimes the sensors won't fit in an aftermarket wheel, it just depends on the wheel. There's a trick to adding the sensors to those wheels - banding. A lot more involved then the normal mounting method.

You can always pick up a set of used ones from the classifieds here on the board and get them installed then have the dealer re-register them to the computer onboard your Z then it will start displaying pressures again.
