I want to get some rims here in the next few months, I was looking for decent rims but care more about looks then anything else. I dont want to spend a ton of money on them, preferably 18's to keep the cost down. Any opinions? I prefer 5 spokes. I really like the T/A model by High Performance Designs in the hypersilver.

hmmmm. depends alot on tires then I guess, as there is a big price swing with them. for five spokes, there are axis hiros, ruff racing has a few like the 278's I almost bought id just go to a few places like tirerack and browse a bit too

Taking a quick look at perfectlyround.com, it looks lite they are Honda setups, 18x7.5 is not gonna fit the Z right even if they do come in 5x114 bolt patterns with the proper offset.
Save your money and spend some time looking at the wheels people have posted, it will cost you less in the long run to buy the right wheels once than the wrong wheels once and then the right wheels.

they will fit, just will look wierd and wont give you enough width to run a wide enough tire to get any traction. i wouldnt go smaller then 8in wide imho. axis and ruff both go wider, atleast to 9.5 wich should be enough for most applications.

I saw some HP wheels on cars at the recent SEMA IAS show near Philadelphia, and typically most of the stuff at those shows is pretty good. There is always some ricer stuff too though, so beware. I usually take the opinions here with a grain of salt because most people will say Go Volk or Go Home...but I just came from owning a Mazda6 which is in a different class than the Z, and the forum folks were much more accepting of a wider variety of wheel makes/models.
If it makes you feel any better, I had a set of Arospeed RS-GT (18" x 7.5" wide) on my mazda6 for about 8 months and I hit some wicked potholes and never noticed any problems. No aparent rim bends, and tires held their pressure. However they were cast, not forged, so there was really no weight savings. Since you are interested more in looks than performance, you probably won't mind a slightly heavier wheel.
I dunno if that answered your question, but I wanted to point out that there are definitely alternatives to Volk/Work/RacingHart/Etc. The physics of automobiles doesn't change that much between mazda, nissan, buick, jaguar, etc., and a $600 set of rims seemed to work for my last car.
I am currently going through the same deliberations as you are. I just can't justify spending $3-4k on a set of wheels/tires.

yea me neither, and i appreciate your response. I dont like how many people on here have to seem that very tunnel minded point of view on things. Sorry i have money going in a lot of different directions and my friends wont care if i pay 5 grand for rims...and in life, does it really matter? no! I just want something that will last, looks good, and isn't overly expensive. It shouldn't be that hard. But sorry making 40 grand a year isn't bad, but i play competitive slow pitch softball, and am saving money for a house while buying a new car...that spreads you pretty thin!
how much would the silver nismo rims run me?

you know who I forgot? ROTA. they make pretty nice rims in a variety of knock off styles and the finishes look great, and they are in your price range.
the Roat's are popular with Subaru guys.
they only go to 18, but if that's the size you were hoping for anyway, BAM! your set.
you said five spokes? they make a really nice Nismo knock off stlye in atleast three colors. and the sizes you would want to really run you can afford.
subydude is on this forum as a vendor I beleive and he runs really good specials. check him out.
those crap rims from tire rack are super ugly and you are really insulting your car and our community by buying them. seriously, they just look bad.
and the amount you can spend on thires gives you a good selection.
if you are gonna run these rims year round and you get cold weather climate, get all season Hi pos (avon are okay) if not, get the best summer tires you can.
good luck. but I still say buy used.
