I like the styling of the Hiro's but they seem to crack more frequently than any other rim I've seen on the interweb.. They are relatively inexpensive however and are not forged..but other than rims from the 1st or 2nd batch no one seems to have any cracked Hiro's lately.

As for other rims that have cracked, I've only seen one high profile rim on the internet that cracked:

can anyone guess at what they are?

I wouldn't exactly call them "cheap". There's plenty of rims out there that are way cheaper then Axis.

^^ agreed, there are a lot of wheels in a cheaper price range with horrible quality. As said, any wheel can bend/crack/warp. My friend had a set of TE37 18" on his WRX and they bent as well.

How it happenend? He's not evan exactly sure, but you can see it!

Just goes to show that as well as things are made to perfection, $hit happens!
Yeah, the TE37 was warped, I was told it was slammed into a curb but I am surprised that it did not crack or break apart.. but then again volk has got it down to a science in their forging process and the strength of their forged wheels are second to none.

It was funny when I thought it was only bent and took it to the shop to have it counterbalanced, to reduce shimmies on the highway, and they all fascinated and shocked it was warped. It was warped in by 0.200" of an inch. Yes, that's alot.

No rim is safe from cracking, warping or being bent. But Hiro's got too many issues.

I've never heard of a person that crack 2 of the same wheel..from different batches. that either really bad luck or bad quality. 1 wheel from any manufacture i can see happening

First thing that popped into my head when I saw those pics was the ol' , "You get what you pay for." In the aftermarket parts industry, this saying is so true especially dealing with wheels.

So many companies having china made cast wheels and slapping their logo on with no government testing standards for safety in kinda scary. When you hit a bump on the freeway or taking turns off an FIA curb at the track the last thing you want to think about is if the wheel is going to crack. And if it does....I hope you got your seatbelt on.

Forged wheel is the way to go. That's why I've ran Volk wheels since Mackin brought them into the US back in the day. I'm not saying Volk is unbreakable, because all wheels do bend with the right amount of force. I've seen some Volks get demolished going 100mph, bent to sh*tz but didnt crack. No wheels should crack. That's your life they are playing with by making cheap wheels. Save your money for an extra month or two and buy the best.

Bending is natural...wheels HAVE to bend with the right amount of force.

CRACKING is just straight up dangerous. If a wheel has fractures you can't see, one wrong separation on the highway or track and you're toast.

If he hit something and it cracked. I dont blame the wheels, I blame the driver. If the wheels cracked on its own, then I blame the wheels.

LOL just kidding. well sorta.

FWIW, I've had these cheap *** wheels on my car for about a year and a half and they haven't fallen apart yet or bent. I've had them spun up to over 140 mph several times. I have hit some potholes from 15mph to 75mph freeway speeds that felt like it should have blown out the tire but have not had any cracks or bends appear yet (knock on wood). I hold my breath anytime I hit potholes with low profile tires on any brand wheel.

If it ever does happen, the people at Axis claim they will replace for free. I have not heard of a speciifc incident when they denied to replace a bent/cracked wheel, even if the owner was not the original purchaser of the wheel.

If one of my wheels ever does bend or crack and I have to pay for the replacement, I will simply not buy their wheels again, with the exception of the replacement wheel of course. If they ever do crack or bend (depending on what caused it) and they replaced it for free, I would buy their wheels in the future again.

I was well aware of the cracking issues with these wheels before I bought them. They were the wheel I liked the best, so I decided to throw the dice and see what happens. I do not regreat buying these wheels and still love them now, as much as the day I got them. If they do bend of course I might change my mind about them, depedning on the circumstances.

You hit something hard enough, any wheel can and will fail at some point. Yes some easier than others. knowing this and Axis' customer service, I would rather get the wheels I like the style of, instead of spending 3 grand on wheels I don't like the look of.

If you bent a $700 Volk wheel, do they give you a free replacement for your troubles? Maybe they do. How many months will it take to get that Volk replacement?

People are gonna bash whatever they want to anyway. I'm sure when Volks were the new kid on the block, people had their doubts about them too. If there was a more expensive wheel I liked the look of more than the Axis wheels I have now, I would have bought them instead. I might have gone with something like Volks but all the offsets I saw were too pushed out for my taste and rear tire size.

MR fire what is the outcome of this, Has Axis responded? I have had good relationship with Axis and know most of the guys even the owner James. I am sure they are aware of the problem and will take quick action.
