Volk Lip Problem
So I just got my Volk GT-7's. My brother-in-law, who is VERY competent, notices a fine scratch on the lip towards the tire. He takes very fine sandpaper and removes the scratch. Well, as we all know, he removed the clear coat once he applied the sandpaper. Question is, How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance for you replies.

I had the same problem on my Volks. Took my car to a hand wash and they used some cleaner that made white cloudy haze on one part of the lip. Other than reclearing the entire lip (if your a perfectionist) the best thing to do is use some 3M oxidation remover and try to blend the clearcoat. If that doesn't work step up to rubbing compound. It will at least minimize the cloudiness around the non-cleared section.

Thanks jcs4...I'll look into oxidation remover/rubbing compound...I have some 3M rubbing compound at the house.
teh215...I appreciate your input, but I'm looking for a solution to this problem...

There is no perfect solution to your problem. Even after you use rubbing compound, it will still not match the rest of the clear coated wheels. I would say u should just buy a new wheel, since no matter what you do, it will not match the other 3.

Using Sandpaper on Volk's lip??
Wheels, no matter how much they are, will always be wheels. you drive on em, and they are bound to get a scratch here and there from rocks and all. Sure if they are expensive wheels it hurts to see a scratch, but a scratch is alot less noticeable and easier to forget then a hazy lip, or a lip with no gloss because of sandpaper.

trust me, LiL, it wasn't my plan. He thought the lip was polished. He guess wrong and now understands that it was a mistake. I agree w/ you though, new wheels are bound to get a scratch here and there.
