Sk8fe

There is no need for spacers when running 9.5s all the way around with Brembos.

I am running this setup right now and have no spacers with my factory brembos.

Here is a picture of my car with Nismo 9.5s all the way around on a Tein S-Tech drop.

The brembos are stock but have been powder coated red with silver labels.

I got 18x9.5 +30 all around and dropped on sportlines. less then 2 finger gap in the rear.

I'm glad I did it, the only drawback is that its more difficult to keep clean than silver.

I wash the car/wheels every 2 days anyway

Did you use auto body paint? Or just spray paint?

I have a bunch of House of Kolor Jet Set Black left.

You're so **** about cleaning and maintaining your car but you're going to give it the krylon touch? WTF! Do it right, do it once. POWDERCOAT. Friends don't let friends do chitty things to their cars.

+1 on Powdercoating

And Black wheels are harder to keep clean than silver ones -- seriously? I would not have guessed that...

I had them professionally painted by a guy that uses a bake-in process instead of a high temperature heating of the paint that most powdercoaters employ. It helps to maintain the structural integrity of the wheels through the whole process by not subjecting them to high heat.

I would recommend finding a painter that can do the same thing:

http://fastforwardwheels.com/index.html

It was about $100/ per wheel for painting, and I found a local decal shop to make the white/red Nismo logos for $20.

Also, the reason why I believe black is more difficult to maintain is that things like dirt, water, and brake dust are more noticeable on a black wheel than a lighter color.

Well i mounted my 18" lmgt4 yesterday and with my drop, they were so tucked in they looked like stock wheels lol. So i put the 30mm on the rears just to see how they would look and to my suprise they fit lol. I put the 25mm up front and they too fit. I do get some rubbing on the passenger side, i might raise it up a bit tomorrow. Oh and the tires i got are 255/35 front and 285/35 rears. This setup looks so badass Ill have pics up tomorrow since it's so dark out.

Wow! I just would have never guessed that dirt & brake dust, etc. would show up more on black wheels over silver or lighter wheels; I would have lost money on that bet -- learn something new every day I guess. I was actually thinking of doing the exact same thing with getting my wheels painted black, but I am so annal about brake dust and keeping my wheels clean, that now I don't think I am going to do that. I don't need to pay $400 to actually give myself more work. I was considering it because I thought that it would make less work for me. So thanks for the insight.

One more question about wheel spacers:

So what is the consensus on how thick of wheels spacers can you safely put on front & rear before you need to have longer wheel studs installed?

It seems to me that any size wheel spacer means that much less threads of the wheel studs in your lugs nuts when you torque them afterwards when all said and done. As an example, if you install a 20mm spacer with everything else being the same, doesn't that mean that you will have 20mm less wheel stud in your lug nut when you tighten/torque afterwards?

By no means am I calling anyone out (no hidden or implied "rolling of eyes" here) on their wheel spacer width choice, I am just trying to understand -- thanks!

3. 18" Bronze
4. 18" Silver
