Default Nismo Wheels & Tire Size?

Just bought a new '06 350Z today. Car came equipped with Nismo wheels shod with OE BS 040 tires (225/45/18 & 245/45/18). I believe the Nismo wheels are a bit wider than the stock ones? Any problems running the OE sized tires on the Nismo wheels? Thinking of swamping the OE tires for BF Goodrich KDW-2's; so maybe this will be a good time to make a small adjustment in tire size? Recommendations? Thanks. Vic

Rear nismo wheel is a little wider than the front: 18 x 9.5 (front 18 x8.5)I dont think the rear nismo rims would fit 245 40 18. I believe it's 275 40 18

My volk racing use 245 40 front and 275 40 rear.

Stock RE040's were not that bad. I auto-crossed on them a couple of times with some good results. However, I do like my BF-Goodrich KDW-2's a lot better.

Defintiely can and should widen those tires.

Personally I think the stock 225/45 is to narrow and stretched on the stock front 8" wheels. It's crazy they used them on Nismos. The tire sizes posted above (245~275/40R18) will fit and perform excellent on your Nismo wheels.

I noticed on the website a little while back that you can order the car with the wheels but there is no provision for upgrading the tires to proper sizes and we all know Nissan is not going to do anything for free. So I assume this is what some dealers are doing.

Any advertisement for NISMO wheels will state the recommended tire size.

If nothing else, make them give you credit for the "wrong" size tires they sold you (with the car)

Use only the recommended tire size, P245/40R18 (18 x 8.5 wheel) or P275/40R18 (18 x 9.5 wheel).

I can't believe the dealer put those tires on those wheels, well actually I can. Another brilliant move by a Nissan dealership.

they work... but they do have a little bit of the stretched look... they didnt want to tack on an extra $1000+ for tires... or maybe they did :-/

it works, wont throw off your VDC or anything...

when time for new tires, go with the mentioned above 245/275 / 40/18

WHAT?! 245/275 40-18 tires in no way cost anywhere near $1000 more than 225/245 45-18 tires of the same brand. Tires of another brand they would likely use for the upsize tires are in fact likely CHEAPER than the rediculously priced stock size OEM tires.

I love the stretched look. That's how it's done in Germany.

You are right. Coming from the Dub Vortex site, I saw pic's of Euro Dubs with undersized tires stretched on deep dish rims.

2006 comes with 225/45/18 / 245/45/18 the same exact tires that are put on that car...

what the dealer most likely did was take the tires off the OEM wheels, and put them on the NISMO wheels...

Most likely the dealer did not give the buyer a credit for the OEM wheels...

Most likely the dealer DID charge $ for the wheels plus $ for the tires which had already came with the car...

I am saying that I hope they didnt charge him extra for them... he should have only paid for wheels...

Ah, I see. Yeah, that would really suck if they charged him for the tires too!
