I've been searching a lot of threads and there seems to be a lot of different theories about the tire PSI alarms, warning lights and how to reset them or if they can be reset or even dissabled all together.

I'm getting new 19's and tires in a week and I'm selling the factory 18's. I would like (prefer) to transfer the sensors to the new wheels to keep that function and avoid all of the BS buzzing alarms and BS dash lights but I would have to have the stock tires taken off the wheels to remove the sensors, then have to sell the factory tires and wheels unmounted or pay to have them remounted without the sensors, which would make selling them harder and I would get less money for them as well as having to spend more to have them transfered a nd stock tires remounted and all of the other mounting and unmounting involved.

So WTH should I do. Sell the stock wheels and tires with the sensors intacked and just deal without having that function and put up with that annoying light that comes on after every 45 minutes?. So what do you have to do, pull off the side of the road shut off the car and restart it every 45 mintues? FREAKIN LAME. Yes the light will annoy me. I had one of those annoying warning useless lights in another car once and put tape over it and the tape annoyed me because it looked lame and I knew under the tape was a light that was on. Then of course the buzzing too

Also seems like it is really easy for tire change guys to break the $175 sensors as well. So if I warn them about the sensors and they break them, I suppose they should pay for them??

I can't believe that there is no way to make that light and that buzzing NOT come on ever??.

Or should I just transfer the sensors and sell the stock wheels and tires unmounted from each other and sell without the sensors for like $500, to just get rid of them?

 

I would keep the tire sensors just so you have them and don't have to hassle
with getting and checking the pressure.Thats my opinion

 

Madix is right keep the sensors since eventually the sensors warning will drive you insane. I would keep them if I were you....

 

Yea I had that problem too. I ended up keeping the TPS. The tire guy actually hooked me up. He took off the TPS off my stocks and mounted the tires back on and put the TPS on my LMGT4s all for $50.

 

Yeah keep the sensors. I got a good hook up as well when I got my 19's. Balance; changing sensors to new tires; remount stock tires to stock rims for only $65. But yeah.. keep them. Those sensors come in handy. You never know when you get a freaking nail and start loosing psi. You wouldn't want to mess those rims up now would you?

 

I say get rid of the sensors especially if your car is an 03'. Mine went bad little after 40,000 miles, so I didnt care when I didnt have them on my 19's. I wouldnt spend $$$ to dismount/mount just to have them go bad again. I had the warning light at first but it went away no big deal for me.
