GT-S and TPS
I just got my new Volk GT-S. I know that alot of people are using the banding method to mount the TPS sensors on muti-piece wheels. I personally don't like this method. I was wondering what the exact problem is in fitting the TPS sensors to these wheels. Is the the valve stem hole diameter the wrong size? Or will the valve stem just be oriented the wrong way?
If the orientation is the problem, I personally wouldn't mind going through a little more trouble in putting air in my tires.

I want to know also! Work VS-XX 3 piece wheels here. The installer from statusautodesign.com said that you could drill another hole into the new wheel and put the sensor on the wheel, but I opted not to cause i didnt want to have a hole on my new wheels. but he said that works perfectly.

TPMS will not work on reverse lip wheels because of the way the sensor mounts to the wheel. If you attempt to put a TPMS on a reverse lip wheel, the tire will not seat properly. We have not yet been able to do this on a reverse lip but there are some wheel manfuactuer's out there who have developed multi piece wheels with reverse lips to be able to seat the TPMS properly. Drilling a new hole would not work either (especially in a cast aluminum wheel) unless you want your valve stem somewhere where its not reachable to put air in the tires. My suggestion is to live with the TPMS light, I do, small price to pay to have Volk wheels.

Andy,
Can you still put the sensors in place of where that valve stem is and fill up the tire in a wierd placem, or is it the sensors won't work no matter what you do?

the problem is, the tire pressure sensors are a fixed shape.. .they are kind of like at a 45 degree angle... ill have to take a pic so you can see what I mean...
the valve stem on the ONE piece wheels is at an angle.. this way the sensor part fits flush against the rim of the wheel...
Now, the 2 piece wheels (Most) and reverse mount wheels the valve stem hole is vertical to the rim (straight up and down)... so the sensor sticks UP and does not sit next to the wheel... When the tire is put around the rim, the sensor will be snapped rite off... If it is a reverse mount rim especially...
We have some unmounted multi piece wheels layin around now I can get a pic of it to show...
There is nothing wrong with running no TPS... in MOST cases, there will be no lights... In some cases depending on the model there may be a solid light with no sound after 45 minutes of driving..

if you have a chance post a pic of the sensors. Also could you put on the sensor after you have the tire on, but not inflated of course. Maybe there's a way to shove it in somehow.

Andy or Jason, Can you guys find a TPS that would work on these wheels, and still are compatible with our Cars? Let us know. Thanks guys. If you find it, I'll buy it!
