Question Will 315/30-18's fit?

I see that Falken now has their RT-615's in 315/30-18. I have a set of SSR GT-2 wheels in 18x10.5" with a 43mm offset for the rear of my Z that I want to put these on. Can any of the tire fitment experts tell me if these will fit the rear of the Z without fender modifications?

Thanks.

Yes you can, All of our VRT guys usually run 285's in the front and 305's or 315's in the back with NO fender modifications whatsoever

I know that several cars are running this size, but it depends greatly on wheel width/offset and also the type of tire. Not all tires marked as 305 or 315 are actually that section width. I know that Eagle1 (Ed) runs this size, and I think 350ZNV (Mike) also runs this size (but on narrower wheels). My wheel size (width/offset) and tire brand choice is different from theirs - hence my question for my specific application. I am hoping to hear from someone running this exact (or very, very similar) combination.

Coilovers will also make a difference if the coil springs have a wide diameter, as the tire may rub on the inside (not a problem with my setup though).

I am also running 285/30's in front (for Hoosiers), but now I need a street class tire now for my class in time attacks.

You might need spacers - I think those might be close to the shock body depending on camber. I took some measurements and found I had about 1 3/16" on the inside with my 275/35s on 9.5/30. The offset calculators say your size will be 26mm (1") closer to the shock with no change on the outside (compared to my setup).

I think I'll be running the 315/30 rt-615s on enkei nt-03 10.5/30. I hope these fit, I might have to roll the fender.

Let us know what you find out.

edwin350Z - no pics yet. I am debating on whether or not to buy these tires - don't want to buy them unless I know for sure they will fit.

Hey Brian, did you get that JWT TT installed yet?

So are you selling your Nismo wheels? I am surprised to hear that you are wanting to change from your 275/35 setup all around - although I recall that you had some issues with oversteer (and the switch to 315 rears would likely cure that somewhat). And it sounds like you don't want to put 315's on 9.5" width wheels, correct?

I currently have some 275/40s on 9.5"/37mm SSR wheels and have some room both inside to the shock and outside to the fender (but I haven't measured the available room yet). I am really hoping not to use any spacers. I know that a 295/30 or 295/35 will fit, but Falken doesn't make the RT-615s in those sizes.

If I had coilovers, I think it wouldn't fit (due to inside shock clearance), but I am hopeful that they might fit with just the shock body.

I have also run through the offset calculators. The big question is the tire itself. The actual section and tread width are the things that I don't know.

Next week in Houston - tt for me

I want to run the 275/35 front and the 315/30 rear but I don't want to run them on a 9.5 (in spite of what the VRT gang has done).

I say go ahead and buy the tires. If they don't fit, I'll take them off your hands (as I'm going to run them regardless). Discount has them for $316.

Good luck

LOL... with an agreement like that, how can I say no?

I agree with you - I am not into running a 315 on a 9.5" wheel. I am looking to run the same setup as you (275/35 F and 315/30 R) for my next time attack.

Good luck with your TT install! You'll have a blast driving it home. I hear that parts of Texas now have speed limits of 80mph (but you'll be able to travel at well over double that speed! ).

Did you end up getting the 315/30 Rt615s on your 10.5" +43 wheel? If so, please describe any issues you have or haven't had.

Thanks,

I have an awesom fender roller if anyone needs it, I rolled the crap out of my rear fenders and probably got an inch more out of it. An inch between the rolling the lip and massaging the fender roll to pull it out a bit. Looks great and holds my 295/30 on 19x10 with +22 offset. -1 camber or so. PM if someone needs to borrow it for some money$

With What offset.... that's the key piece of information.

the two setups that I'm aware of are Nismo LMgt4 9.5" 30mm and Enkei NT03M 10.5" 30mm. These are the rear sizes. The Nismo setup was on a Z, the Enkei setup on a G.

Going to get the 315's mounted this Saturday...

I'll post the results later that day.

Soundeffects, I may be interested in renting your fender roller depending on the outcome of the fitment test.

315's have been mounted. The fit is pretty good - as good as I could have hoped for. No rubbing on the inside (maybe 1/4 to 3/8" clearance to the shock). From the outside, looking down from the top of the fender, the top of the tire is not visible. The tire does not stick outside if the fender. I think that just tweaking the inside lip of the fender will be enough to make it work without rubbing. I won't need to seriously roll the fender nor will I need a spacer. So this is about as perfect a fitment as I could have hoped for.

Don't have pics right now. I will get pics when I finish rolling the inside lip (this will take me a couple weeks - no time to do this right now).

Thanks for the info. I, too, have an 18x10.5 +43 (SSR GT3), and would like to get the 315 RT-615s. Glad they are not rubbing the shock. As for the fender, it rubs and cuts the rubber slightly? A fender roll is a fender roll.

Thanks for the info - looking forward to pics and updates.

With a 43mm offset, the fender won't be an issue. Its the tire hitting your shocks that will be the problem. If you have stock shocks, you might be fine. If you have aftermarket ones like Teins, which have a much thicker body, you will likely rub the shock which would be VERY bad.

Thanks - do you speak from experience with the 10.5" rear? It seems like knight_white isn't having a shock issue, but a fender issue.

Yes. I have 18x10.5 rear wheels with a +30 offset. Tires are 295/35/18. Here's a picture on my car from below the rear wheel. Note how close the tire is to my rear Tein damper. Turn your head to sideways to the right for the picture to make sense
