Default Getting Volk Lips Repolished?

Are there any pix of people who have had the lips on their 2-piece Volk wheels professional polished? And of course I searched, but the way the search feature works, only the first word of a string is actually looked up. So if I search for "polished asdfadfajlk" it would give me the same result as "polished" or "polished wheels" or anything else..

Anyways, I don't have any issues with mine (yet), but I thought if I get them stripped and high-polished, they would gleam a whole lot more. Of course, then the lips would probably start to get hazy, so I would either have to get them clearcoated or polish them constantly myself. I wouldn't mind using metal polish every now and then, but I wanted to see if it is even worth it. If you guys have pix, please post them! Also, how much would it cost to do this?

Hey Bhasha, this was my thread i made awhile ago. I didn't have mine professionally done but I think my work was pretty good considering it was my first time.

Albert, thanks for the info. I do recall seeing your post, I guess I should bookmark it! Since you did that back in January, how are things holding up? How often do you have to repolish them? I'm assuming you basically stripped the anodized clearcoat?

LOL, yeah, after polishing them I didn't have the time to keep them clean so I traded up for the TE37's.

Here's the deal. I used the metal polish and stipped off all the clearcoat and a tiny layer of the metal below it to get the shine. The shine is definitely better than the clearcoat volk had on them but not as shiny as chrome. It took me soo long because I did it all by hand and without an orbital, I am sure using that will cut the time down dramatically. I also had to take the inner rim off as well so that didn't help either.

All and all I would do it all over again if I had to but keeping them clean was too much hassle for me. TE37 FTW!

Good stuff. Yeah, if I have to do it, may get it professionally done. And then hopefully polishing them by hand once every 1-2 months should be good enough!

The Wheel Supply in Walnut polished off all my clear coat on my other set of wheels, did a very good job. However, i thought that polishing every 1 or 2 months aint too bad, but trust me it is lol. Its such hard work especially when it gets dirty too... dont think its worth it, if ur wheel is perfectly fine.
